After a tumultuous off-season, preseason, and first quarter of the regular season, the Raiders will begin to show how well they've weathered the storm this Sunday. Ironically, they'll be doing this in a place known best for the costliest and most destructive natural disaster in the history of the United States. The national disaster suffered by the Raider Nation over the last week and a half has done little to displace their passion, but support will depend on the recovery that begins with the game on Sunday....

The Cal Bears women's programs have been tough in every sport this season. From volleyball to golf, and all of the sports in between, the lady Bears are a force on women's collegiate sports. This week was a show of force for the Bears volleyball team that continues to dominate the national spotlight. It was a good week for a former Bear, who was drafted professionally, and a semi-sweet week for a current Bear that probably would like to have one set back in order to alter the minor setback she suffered....

Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his lack of knowledge, creativity, and clues especially, there was an interesting show on display between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. As you know, the Saints are next up on the Raiders hit-list and every media outlet is sure to tell you that they have absolutely no chance in New Orleans. The Pac-10 is not considered very strong this year. Many pundits over the weekend took shots at the lack of strength within the conference, while some of the major news outlets completely discounted everyone in the conference except for USC. If you believe in preseason polls, which I do not, then the Arizona State Sun Devils should have no trouble beating Cal on Saturday. The only problem with that premise is that sports have and always will be a 'what have you done for me lately' affair when it comes to prognostications. Take my word for it...
