The Padres will present a formal contract offer to Trevor Hoffman this week, according to general manager Kevin Towers.

They Did It, Padres Avoid Losing 100 Games

The San Diego Padres did come into this season thinking that they were going to lose 100 games. But, the reality is that's what the Padres were trying to avoid the last week of the season.

With a win over the Pirates, the Padres guarantee that it would not happen.

My hope is that the Padres can regroup and be back in the playoff race in '09.

The Padres will try to avoid Losing 100 Games

For the San Diego Padres, its been a long, tough year. However, the Padres are trying to avoid losing 100 games.

But, the Padres need to finish 5-4 to prevent that from happening. The Padres do play the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates, so they might have a chance.

Is it going to happen, I guess we all have to stay tuned.

Great performance for San Diego's Pitcher, Chris Young. Young retired the first 23 Brewers in order.

"It's gratifying to get back out there and have a game like today," Young said.

It has been a hard season for Chris Young, especially with the injuries he had earlier this season. However, next year, if Chris performs like this, the San Diego Padres could be back in '09. We shall see.

Just when things can get any worse for the San Diego Padres, they lose another player.

Scott Hairston injured his thumb trying to make a diving catch in center field on Wednesday in a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"I'll continue to work hard, hopefully be back and have a better year next year. That will be the focus, having a better year next year," Hairston said.

Hopefully for the San Diego Padres he will be back stronger and better than ever.

The San Diego Padres' Jody Gerut hit the go-ahead single that capped a two-run rally in the eighth inning for a 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

The loss also prevented Randy Johnson from gaining his 295th career victory.

The Padres maybe in last place, but these players still care and never give up.
