Rivalry Renewed:
Who isn't excited. Even if you don't like basketball that much Celtics vs Lakers is a matchup of American sports royalty. The ultimate battle to decide who is the best for the 2007-2008 season, and there is alot more to this series than there appears to be. Red Auerbach's hallowed record of 9 world championships would be surpassed by (lets face it a paper champion) Phil Jackson for the all time lead. It should add intensity to the series as this creates a backdrop that makes Doc's first trip to the finals that much harder.At the conclusion of this series exactly half of the total number of NBA chamionships will have been won by either the Celtics or the Lakers, and the world awaits as the Celtics and Lakers renew the rivalry that made basketball what it is today.
Favorite Celtics Game?:
I will always remember game three of the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals as my favorite Celtics game. Being just a young Celtics fan (and never seeing much past their first round exits) that season will always be remembered as one of my favorites. This battle of epic proportions led to the greatest comeback in NBA history as the Celts trailed by 21 entering the fourth. The game was Paul Pierce's and Antoine Walker's defining moment as teammates as they stormed back, and took a 2-1 series lead. They would go on to lose the series, but it was an important game to me as (up until 2007-2008) it was the best Celtics season and playoff run that i had ever witnessed, and truly sparked an interest in basketball for myself. Favorite Player:
The fiery point guard and on the court commander of the greatest basketball team in the world, my favorite player would have to be at one guard, six foot one, from Kentucky, Rajon Rondo!
