Michael Vick's impending financial collapse/puts house up for sale

Michael Vick put his Sugarloaf Country Club home up for sale today with a listing price of $4.5 million dollars, which he purchased in 2005 for $3.7 million dollars, which is also the same year he signed his enormous 10-year/$130 million dollar extension with the Atlanta Falcons.

Michael Vick's unpaid loans include: Wachovia suing for $940,000 for an unpaid loan to start a restaurant, The Royal Bank of Canada suing for $2.5 million over a real estate loan, and 1st Source Bank suing Vick over an unpaid car loan for 130 vehicles.

DeShawn Stevenson posts his credit card number on his myspace page

Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson took flossing to a whole new level of dumb by posting his American Express Centurion Card, or "Black Card" on his public MySpace page this week. Which is great that he focuses on blowing massive amounts of dough on grills and such instead of working on his free throw shooting or his defense.

Mack Strong done for season with neck injury

Reiterating the point we made yesterday, with the running game absolutely floundering this season, losing a key component of Alexander's attack plan spells disaster for the former #1 rushing team in the NFL. (#1 in touchdowns, #2 in yards per game) A one-dimensional passing offense will be even more obvious next week without a decent running attack to keep the safeties and linebackers honest. Without Pro Bowler Mack Strong, the powerful Seattle outside running game will a shadow of it's former self. I can't imagine to see the results of Alexander running between the tackles for the rest of the season.

12 free car washes from Brown Bear can't save Moyer and Phillies

44-year old lefty Jamie Moyer takes the mound for the Phillies in their last ditch effort to save their season after falling 0-2 against the Colorado Rockies. I have to admit it's a little bittersweet watching a Mariner institution go to the playoffs in another uniform. I'm proud of the guy and he's probably the most underrated pitcher of the era. The guy has more wins (230) than Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, and Curt Schilling, three probable Hall of Famers.

Sweet Victory tastes like a Fufu Berry Jones Soda

Jones Soda announces today its limited edition Seahawks Collector Pack of five new football-inspired flavors which includes: Dirt Soda, Sports Cream Soda, Perspiration Soda, Natural Field Turf Soda, and Sweet Victory Soda.

Seahawks Injury Woes Continue...

Hawks fans remain optimistic that their team can win it all. "Last year," they'd tell you, "was a fluke. They got to the second round of the playoffs even WITH all the injuries they had!" Well, in a little exhibition game, the sky came falling. Marcus Tubbs was helped off the field, Josh Wilson, Chris Spencer (and his only backup, Pat Ross)... and they're looking to sign MARK BRUNELL to a 2-year deal? Hmm...

It Pays to be a Backup QB

Seneca Wallace just resigned with the Seahawks, an extension keeping him in Seahawks blue through 2010. The deal is worth $5.4 million, raising his annual salary from $800,000 to about $2 million this year. What does this mean for the Seahawks? Check it out.

Reggie Williams Likely Done as a Jaguar

Former first-round pick and Washington Husky Reggie Williams is listed 5th on a depth chart released this Tuesday by the Jacksonville Jaguars. This likely spells an end to his tenure in Jacksonville after spending 3 yards there compiling 6 touchdowns and probably about just as many dropped passes. Needless to say he has not lived up to the hype of being the 9th overall pick in the draft and Washington's career school records for receiving yards, receiving yards per game and receptions. Reggie Williams had sixteen 100-yard games as a Washington Husky, he has ZERO as a Jaguar.

Bonds Breaks Hank Aaron's Record

Bonds robbed Aaron tonight, as Barry took over the home run record this evening. Aaron was there in spirit, probably watching in agony as a dirty player recieved the nation's attention.

ESPN future hall of fame rankings are garbage

To even put names like Clinton Portis in the "odd men out" catagory along with players that have NEVER played an NFL game is absolutely absurd. To patronize the Notre Dame homers who would even call Brady Quinn a Hall of Famer makes one think that E! would be a better source of sports news than ESPN. Why is Mario Williams even on this list? The only time he will ever be mentioned in the same sentence with the word Hall of Fame is when Reggie Bush goes to Canton.

Garnett trade analysis

Let's take the best possible scenario -- The Boston Celtics offense become the Phoenix Suns offense. We're talking about a jump from 22nd overall in offense to 1st, which is also a whopping 14.4 point per game increase in total offense for the Celtics. For the Sun's trio of Nash, Stoudemire, and Marion, they took a collective 39.5 shots a game. Which is a total 47% of the team shots. Assuming that roughly the same breakdown occurs for Boston, which may or may not happen, the combined shots of Allen, Pierce, and Garnett will suffer a 24% combined decrease overall. That means that the corresponding scoring averages for the 3, which in 2006-2007 was 24.6 points per game, will drop to 18.8 points a game, down 5.8 points per game per player. Does this mean that the Celtics are a marginally better version of the Washington Wizards? You tell me. It's clear that in Boston however, it's NBA Finals or bust for the Celtics.

Dontrelle in demand by Mariners

A Mariners scout was present during Dontrelle Willis' 3-4 loss against the Diamondbacks earlier this week, in which Dontrelle gave up 4 runs in 6 and two-thirds innings. If you believe the history you're looking at one of the best young left-handed starters in baseball. However, if you believe what you're seeing every five days in south Florida, you're seeing a mess of a pitcher who can't locate his fastball.

Rashard gets traded on the cheap

Of course there's a reason why Orlando would let Rashard Lewis get another year on his deal and an extra $21.066 million his deal without getting any salary cap relief in return. Once they realized that Rashard was interested in a sign-and-trade, they had to either give up draft picks to get salary relief, or retain the salaries. The Magic are actually interested in winning, so they went the expensive route and only gave up a 2nd round draft pick. So for us, No Jameer Nelson, no 1st round draft pick, no sight of a shooting guard.

Seattle and GM Sam Presti sought the cheapest option possible. There is no question about that. Clay Bennett stared at his checkbook, and saw the possibility of writing $20 million dollars worth of checks to Hedo Turkoglu, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling and whoever else, and said:

Are the Mariners Buyers or Sellers?

4 and a half games back of the AL West leading Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Mariners stand at the brink of greatness, but always on the edge of mediocrity. Seattle has scored 406 runs, and given up 403. 3rd in batting average, 22nd in ERA. Without many gaping holes (or at least holes that aren't currently filled with high-priced unmovable veterans), and lacking enough talent in the positions needed, the Mariners have 25 days to figure out a question that doesn't have a right answer, are the Mariners buyers or sellers?

Ron Artest fits in Seattle

Artest is versatile. Artest is a defensive-minded player. Artest is cheap. Those seem to be the only three characteristics that GM Sam Presti is looking for in a player. Bring him to Seattle. We'll tell you why and how it works.
