Don't Forget to Rest
Finally the last way to build muscle mass effectively is recovery. When you weight train what you're actually doing is tearing down muscle tissue. The only reason you induce this time of trauma is the hope that your muscles grow bigger and stronger than before. The only way to ensure this outcome is to rest.
Resting gives your muscle fibers time to rebuild themselves, but if you're constantly tearing them down day after day they won't have time to grow and you'll be weaker not stronger.
So after an exhausting workout your primary focus should be to fully recover by taking a day off and getting the proper amount of sleep.
