Ray Rice may get nod over Willis McGahee

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has made it almost clear that he will start rookie Ray Rice over incumbent Willis McGahee because Rice has actually been at camp practicing, while McGahee has been...well, we're not really sure what he's been up to. Here's the quote from Harbaugh: When you've got Ray Rice out there practicing and you don't have McGahee, that's what you do," head coach John Harbaugh said. "That's what you become. So, Willis is a bonus in my mind because he hasn't been practicing anyway. If he gets out there, it's going to be great. We've got to go play on Sunday with the guys we've got and we plan on playing very well." McGahee's knees have always been an issue since that horrific injury he suffered in the National Championship game while at Miami, but is this the end for him as a Raven?

Russian high jumper competes after drinking Red Bull & vodka!

Ivan Ukhov is a top Russian high jumper when sober. Unfortunately for him, it has been reported that he decided to drink some Red Bull & vodka because "Red Bull gives you wings" during the competition. He failed miserably on a jump at the Lausanne Grand Prix, and finished dead last in the 12 man competition. Ah mother Russia...

Erin Andrews' absence at Rutgers taken hard

Without Erin Andrews on the sideline of the Scarlet Knights yesterday, Rutgers got handled by the Fresno State Bulldogs. The most evident thing about the incident is that ESPN made a point to poke some fun at her replacement, Ron Stone. Check out the video and let me know how much you missed seeing our favorite blonde on the sideline.

Strahan WILL NOT return to the Giants, will enjoy retirement

I don't have a link yet, but I was just working with ESPN on in the background and they reported that Michael Strahan and the Giants have come to a decision and it will not result in Strahan re-joining the Giants. Strahan says he is enjoying his retirement so far and is not in game football shape and the season starts soon, so it's just not going to happen. Guess the Giants will just have to use Umenyiora's backup.

Penn St./JoePa decide to start Daryll Clark at QB

Not that it's all that important because Penn St. is a "has been" in college football, but Joe Paterno has decided to name Daryll Clark the newest starting QB in Happy Valley. The 22nd ranked Nittany Lions open up against the formidable (cough cough) Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina for what may be JoePa's final season.

MLB introduces instant replay on Thursday

Another pro league has finally crumbled to the superiority of the computer, as MLB will implement instant replay for HR's starting on Thursday. Do you think this is a good idea? Should they have it for pitching calls as well? As long as the process is more like the NBA or NHL and not like the painful delays of the NFL, MLB should be better off. But if this process takes more time than usual, watch out, every baseball fan may fall asleep watching a game.

7 year old just wanted to "do hood rat stuff wit my friends"

Check out this video, quite possibly one of the funniest things I've ever seen on Youtube. This 7 year old stole his grandmother's Durango because he was mad at his mom, and he and a friend went on a joy ride.

Warriors' Stephen Jackson feels "under-appreciated"

How do you feel under-appreciated when your making millions of dollars to play basketball. Well, apparently the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Jackson feels that way after the team has made the off-season acquisition of Clippers forward Corey Maggette and extended the contracts of Andris Biedrins and Monta Ellis. Here's a direct quote from Jackson: "It's not what I want, it's what I deserve. "... I won't be comfortable going into this season knowing I have to play this whole season being the fifth highest-paid and not get an extension. I would not be happy." Ridiculous.

Great piece on Tyson Gay, disappointment at the Olympics

Tyson Gay was poised to become the next Olympic Gold medalist for the US in the 100 meter dash, until a hamstring injury in the US Trials set him back a month and really curtailed his training process. Gay did run in the pre-lims and made it to the semis, but the juice just wasn't there for the sprinter and he failed to qualify for the finals, finishing 5th in his semi heat. He sat down with a reporter at the Times, and talked about his frustrations with his Olympic experience. Check it out.

James Blake defeates Roger Federer: Goin' Hard for the Yard!

The Olympics have experienced a bunch of upsets today, as both Williams sisters have been defeated and the Yard's own James Blake defeated #1 seed Roger Federer. Blake defeated Federer in straight sets and now is guaranteed a medal. With one more win, he'll be playing for the gold medal, easily the furthest he's ever gone in a "Grand Slam". Congrats Blake, and go USA!

LA Times' Bill Plaschke loves eating gentalia

Bill Plaschke has been known to say a lot of stupid things, but this one might take the cake. In a video with Chicago Tribune's Kevin Pang, Plaschke admits very much that he "likes penis", he and Pang are "penis aficionados", and that it has a "rubbery texture that I enjoy". Of course, he's talking about the cuisine he and Pang are trying while at the Beijing Olympics, but the innuendo is just too much for me to handle. Another quality soundbite and quote from the wonderfully dumb Bill Plaschke.

Bruins' QB Olson hurt again! QB breaks same foot he did 5 months ago

The UCLA Bruins have to have some of the worst luck in terms of injuries, and at the top of that list is senior QB Ben Olson. The former #1 QB recruit coming out of high school has never done anything on the field, mostly because of his inability to stay or get on it! He started school 2 years late because of a Mormon mission, but since then has always been dubbed the starter until some injury forces him out. He's suffered from torn knee ligaments, broken feet, and concussion like symptoms. The most recent injury, a broken foot, is the same broken foot he sustained 5 months ago at the start of spring ball. UCLA had named Patrick Cowan the starter, but he tore his ACL right before Olson broke his foot the first time. The Bruins must turn to transfer Kevin Craft, or redshirt freshman Chris Forcier.

Legendary players who ended their careers elsewhere

It's always a bit uneasy for diehard fans to see their legendary players finish their careers in another uniform. The latest example of this is of course Brett Favre, who was just traded from the Packers to the New York Jets. This is a slideshow of 23 legendary players who ended their careers with different teams than they became famous with. Which one is the most painful to see?

Seattle Sonics are now the Oklahoma City Thunder!

The speculation that the new mascot of the former Seattle SuperSonics was going to be "Thunder", and now it seems official. Check out the article to see the details, but due to a slip-up by the NBA with their schedule release, the mascot name was revealed. Still waiting on any visuals...

The Packers should trade...Aaron Rodgers?!

According to a post on AOLfanhouse today the Green Bay Packers should trade not Brett Favre, but Aaron Rodgers. I was at first really against this idea, but thinking about it more and more, it's the best situation for Rodgers as long as he would be a starter wherever he went. He's going to fail in Green Bay even if he plays good football, because he's not Brett and if this circus continues, he's going to be in a very very difficult spot, worse than any other QB trying to replace a legend. If I were Rodgers, I would tell the Packers to trade Favre or I want out. Simple as that.
