Was Friday a crazy day for the NFL or what!! Training camps opening, rookies signing million dollar deals, Brett saying he's going to GB's camp. My head can't take it all. Let's start with the story of the day.
#4:
Brett has decided to attend GB's training camp. Ok, that's the first move. Now will he stay? Is he doing this in hopes of being traded? Will GB put Rodgers back on the bench? Is Brett just missing the game and doesn't care if he's the backup? Ahhh! So many questions? I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I can just imagine the chaos the press is going to have on at GB's camp. Dang!! GB has told Favre they don't want him back as a starting quarterback, yet they're acting as if they're terrified that he'll come back to haunt them as a Viking. It's going to be a long weekend. And when Monday comes, you better believe I'll be watching NFL Network all day. Anyone wanna place any bets on what's gonna happen???
Next up, the signing frenzy today!!! These are just a couple players I've been keeping my eye on.
1. The
New York Jets signed defensive end/linebacker
Vernon Gholston to a five-year deal worth $50 million, including $21 million guaranteed.
2. The
Pittsburgh Steelers signed first-round pick Rashard Mendenhall (from U of I) to a five-year deal worth $12.555 million, including $7.125 million guaranteed.
3. The
Arizona Cardinals agreed to a six-year contract with cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, from TSU baby!! Terms were not disclosed though. That's ok, I'm just glad to have someone reppin TSU. Especially after that whole incident with Moon. Has anyone heard about him lately? What's the deal?? Big L and Benny held it down for a while though. Let's not forget!!
The Cowboys finally decided to waive
Terry Glenn. Good! I was getting tired of hearing him bitch. I used to be a fan of his, but lately, geez!! He didn't even play that much last season. The first freakin 15 games he sat out. The team stepped up and did fine without him.
Jerry Jones wants to give some younger players an opportunity. That's great! Terry should've taken the $500k and kept it moving! Idiot!
So, what's the deal with Larry Johnson? He didn't participate much during mini-camp and during training camp he's not expected to do much there either. So that means the focus is going to be on Kolby Smith (remember that name), and
Jamaal Charles. Which player will be LJ's backup? You already know it's gonna be Kolby baby!!. He did his thing last season when LJ got hurt. The team overall sucked, but there were indeed a few players that did a great job. Look at the rookies. Dwyane Bowe had an excellent rookie year. And Tank and Turk were on point. So maybe this year the team can get it together and show us what they really have!!
Oh! I want to make a correction about my previous blog. I said that Matt Forte wasn't signed nor at camp. What was I thinking? I was in Chicago when he got signed!! Anywho, someone at my job told me he hadn't been to the first day of camp so I just assumed contract issues. Dude probably got Forte and Hester mixed up! LOL! Oh well, I'll never listen to him again!
Well, I guess that's all for now. Today the Falcons officially begin training camp. I can't wait to go out and catch some of the practices over the next couple weeks. I'm so glad that added more public practices. Did you think I was going to sit at home and twiddle my thumbs hoping for 3-second glimpses and 10 second interviews of my new home team on the news. NEVER!! LOL!
