I have stated it earlier and I will state it again, the days of drafting running backs with your first 2 picks is no longer the norm. Dominating receivers combined with running backs in platoon situations has led to the RB position last much deeper into most drafts. The problem is many draftees push the limits on selecting their 2nd or 3rd RB, and when their commish turns to them (or draft app for those online) they have no idea who to take. Here is my five picks to watch for late in drafts:

Running backs are on a downward trend in value. Too many platoons, too many injuries. Wide receivers are on the rise. There are sure to be more Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker and Braylon Edward break-out potential players in 2008. Here is my take on 5 potential WR who could become hot fantasy commodities in 2008:

Everyone has their take on this years group of top sleeper candidates. Some prefer to go after unknowns, or players who came on late the previous season, but the best sleepers are often well known players who simply aren't being drafted according to their potential value. None of the top five that I review are unknown names, but all are either being overlooked or simply too far down draft lists. These are the five quarterbacks to consider, starting with Jay Cutler:

The 2008 NBA draft did not have nearly enough twists and turns to amuse the average fan hungry for crazy trades and questionable picks, but when it was all said and done, this draft put a number of players into position to help fantasy teams in coming years. This is a quick breakdown of who to watch for and who to avoid.

With only fantasy baseball left on the schedule, a fantasy freak has to spend some time starting to look ahead at the king of fantasy seasons, fantasy football. This time of year is all about the draft, where the rookies landed and who might have some fantasy relevance in just a few short months. Here is a look at my top five players who should be considered at your draft, but even these players will provide marginal value early in the season. With rookies, it is about seeing who will emerge as a valuable fantasy contributor late in the year as playoffs approach and other teams start to falter:

The Phoenix Suns trade for an aging Shaquille O'Neal in a surprise move, as Marion is shipped out. One could debate this either way, but I have to feel the main question is "Why Shaq", when other options exist?

Eddie House and Ray Allen made it interesting with back-to-back threes with less than a minute left to tie the game, but Big Shot Billups owened the 4th quarter and closed the deal. Here are five lessons I hope the Celtics took away from this important game.

It is only mid-week, but already there are five players eligible for the Waiver Wire Five. Before the weekend arrives, here is a look at this week's list, and for those of you with weekend changes only you will still have a few days left to evaluate:

Every week there are at least five players, probably on your waiver wire depending on the depth of your league, that you need to pay attention to. This week we look at...:

Apparently Andre Miller doesn't like to hear that his name is once again on the trade block, less than a year since he arrived in Philadelphia. Miller has played very poorly all season for a tier 1 point guard, and barely could be considered a point guard averaging just four assists a game through the first month of the season. His play, along with needing a contract extension in the not so distant future, and the current rebuilding the Sixers are going through naturally led to trade talks. Throw in Louis Williams playing like he deserves more time, and it almost becomes automatic.

By now everyone knows that Gilbert will be out three months... no more Hibachi motions after a made three and no more agent zero trash talk (just more blogs I presume), but it does open the door for some players fantasy wise....
