Hedo gets denied as Pistons advance

The Pistons-Magic series came to an end a few days ago, but the big play at the end of the game was between Hedo Turkoglu and Tayshaun Prince. Prince, known for his defense, was beat by Hedo (who had a great series) but recovered just in time to block Hedo's game tying dunk attempt with under 15 seconds remaining in the game. Check out the video for the full clip. Crazy recovery speed!

Robin Lopez is a freak!

Check out this post on AOLfanhouse comparing Robin Lopez to American Idol's Justin Guarini, Michelle Wie, and an ostirch. Pretty funny stuff, especially on the eve of Lopez going pro.

Stan Van Gundy looks like... Ron Jeremy? Yes, according to Barkley

Charles Barkley is known for making some dumb comments throughout his playing and broadcasting career, but this one is pretty funny. Check out this video clip of Barkley comparing Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy to porn star Ron Jeremy.

The Turiaf ejection was BS, it was just a hard foul

Ronny Turiaf got ejected last night because of a hard foul that caused Utah's Ronnie Brewer to bleed from the eyebrow. It was a hard foul, but nothing malicious about it and the fact that Turiaf is so much bigger than Brewer probably caused Brewer to fly. It was a flagrant, but not a flagrant 2. Nowhere near the "slap" by Darius Songalia on LeBron, and not as bad as Jason Kidd's throwdown of Pargo. Check out the vid, lemme know whatsup.

Rick Carlisle gets another NBA coaching shot, this time with Cuban's Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have fired Avery Johnson, whom I believe to be a very good coach, and replaced him with NBA journeyman Rick Carlisle. I don't know what Carlisle did to earn the trust of every NBA GM, but this guy keeps getting hired and fired but teams continue to take him back. What is he going to provide that Johnson couldn't? I don't get this hire, I think Cuban is losing it a bit.

Poor Joe Hamilton: Former Georgia Tech QB in trouble

After being arrested for a DUI on Monday, former Georgia Tech QB Joe Hamilton has resigned from his post as the assistant director of player personnel. The QB led the Yellow Jackets back in 1998 until Hamilton graduated and tried his hand at the NFL, which obviously didn't work out very well. Check out this highlight film of him back in the day though, man's got moves.

WV's Bob Huggins can be fired for intoxication or drug abuse in new contract

West Virginia signed basketball coach Bob Huggins to a new contract this week, which will pay him around $1.5 million per year for the next 10 plus years. The stipulation however, is that Huggins can be fired for drug abuse or intoxication, a problem that Huggins has dealt with in the past and a huge reason why he left Cincinnati. I totally agree with this and think it should be included in everybody's contract because these are role models for young impressionable college kids. They have a responsibility to be upstanding citizens for their team.

David Beckham still can ball a little

The LA Galaxy got 2 ridiculous goals from David Beckham this weekend, and he looked like his old self. Check out the video to see Becks' deep shots to lead the Galaxy to a ...tie, well he can't carry a team apparently.

Jessica Simpson to crash Democratic National Convention at President Bush's request

After welcoming the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, President Bush made a great comment about how the Giants went through his hometown Cowboys to get to the Super Bowl. He made fun of Jessica Simpson and said the Republicans will be sending her to the Democratic Convention to stir up some sh*t. Haha, very funny, check out the video.

Caron Butler takes LeBron one on one and leads Wiz to W

King James had a shot at defeating the Wizards and ending the series last night but missed the final shot. Caron Butler had a chance win the game and force the series to continue and he made it happen. What's interesting is that Caron Butler was guarding LeBron James, and vice versa. Caron took LeBron and the Cavs down, and now the King must play another physical game and take care of Caron and Antawan Jamison if he wants to lead the Cavs to the next round.

Kidd throws Pargo to the hardwood, are the Mavs done?

So much for that Jason Kidd trade huh? The Mavs are a step away from elimination and their 'star' PG has resorted to dirty plays and hard hits. Let's be honest, Kidd just isn't the same PG anymore, and he's not the missing piece to the Mavs playoff collapse versus the Heat. Will he be back next season; will Avery Johnson even be back?

Pat Riley no longer coaching Heat, will remain President

The reign of Pat Riley has come to an end, as the Hall of Fame coach has decided to step down from his post as the head coach of the Heat after a dismal season. Riley will remain as the team's President, but it seems like a good move to get off the bench as he was clearly losing touch with either his players and/or the game after finishing with the league's worst record. Riley's successor will be assistant Erik Spoelstra, but he'll be replaced sometime soon.

Mavs' Howard gets busted for smokin da weed

In a shocker (heavy sarcasm), Josh Howard admitted to smoking pot the other day. Not that it's surprising that Howard smokes weed, because I'm sure many NBA players do; what is surprising though is the timing that he decided to come out with this information. The Mavs are in the middle of the playoffs, getting owned by the New Orleans Hornets, and Howard isn't exactly playing particularly well right now.

Stanford looking at Larry Brown to replace Trent Johnson

After Trent Johnson left Stanford for LSU in the offseason, the Cardinal have been rather quiet about who they would be looking at to replace him. Well, if this news is accurate, that's a huge step up from Johnson both in name and basketball IQ. This is still a very weak rumor, but I think it's not completely out of the realm of reality. Brown has tried to return to the sideline in the NBA but nobody is taking the bait, so perhaps a nice college job would do? Your thoughts?

Michigan State's Tom Izzo in the running for the Bulls job?

Tom Izzo has been a hot college coach for a long time, but always returns to Michigan State because he loves the passion of the college game. Well, he's got another interested NBA team talking, and his name is being thrown around for the Chicago Bulls job. It's an interesting debate, as Izzo has not refused the talks nor has Chicago GM Bill Paxson said anything about what is going on with the search. Would Izzo fit in Chicago?
