NASHVILLE, Tenn. β The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms Tuesday with unrestricted free agent safety Donnie Nickey. Nickey, a five-year veteran, played in all 16 games last season. In 76 career games, he's made six starts and has made 36 tackles. "He is a veteran player we can rely upon to work hard, help our depth at safety and be a leader on special teams," said Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt. Nickey was a fifth-round draft pick in 2003 out of Ohio State.

NASHVILLE (AP) β The Tennessee Titans started their offseason program without All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. The Titans designated Haynesworth as their franchise player Feb. 20, but he is not under contract. The only way Haynesworth can take part would be to sign the tender worth $6.36 million, which would be 120% of his salary for 2007. The 14-week program starting Monday is voluntary. "Albert has not signed his tender and therefore will not be participating in the Titans offseason program at this time," agent Chad Speck wrote in an e-mail Monday. Speck said Haynesworth is working out on his own and will be ready for the 2008 season.

The Detroit Lions are not making a bid for Adam "Pacman" Jones , the troubled Tennessee Titans cornerback who currently is under suspension by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy the Detroit News reported. The Titans are attempting to trade Jones. The Lions will not pursue Jones, team president Matt Millen said Friday after Internet reports surfaced that the Lions are one of the teams interested in Jones. "We've talked about it, but for a lot of reasons, we aren't going to try to get him," Millen said. "He has a lot of talent. We wish him well."

lbert Haynesworth said Friday he hasn't yet made up his mind as to whether he will report to Baptist Sports Park on Monday with his teammates for the beginning of the Tennessee Titans' off-season conditioning program. The Titans placed the franchise tag on the defensive tackle on Feb. 20, which gives him the option of not reporting for any off-season work with the team if he so chooses. Haynesworth must sign the tender offer to take part in off-season work because he is not currently under contract with the Titans.

Agent says Patriots would be a good fit for Pacman No player is more synonymous with trouble than Adam "Pacman" Jones. No team is better at rehabilitating perceived problem children than the New England Patriots according to the Boston Herald. Could the two go great together? Jones' lawyer thinks so. Manny Arora, Jones' attorney throughout his various brushes with the law, said yesterday that if the Tennessee Titans decide to trade their troubled corner, the Pats would be atop his list of landing spots. Though the Patriots have been described in prior reports as having shown a measure of interest in Jones, there's no evidence their curiosity has ever advanced beyond cursory.

RVING β The Dallas Cowboys have held preliminary discussions with the Tennessee Titans about trading for suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, according to a source. The Cowboys could give up a late-round draft pick to acquire Jones. According to a source, Titans officials are not in a hurry to make a deal but realize the best way to move on without Jones is to trade him.

I don't want to be the one to shy away from criticizing the team. And to be honest, yes it would be nice to have the high dollar player come in and "save the day". But lets face it, that isn't what this team is about. Today on www.realfootball365.com writer Marc Hudgens took stab after stab at the Titans, I'd like to use this post to reply to his

Titans left tackle Michael Roos isn't scheduled to become a free agent until next offseason, but his agent said the time to complete a new contract is now. Agent Cameron Foster recently sent Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt a letter that said if the team doesn't lock up Roos by the start of the season, it should be prepared to lose him after the season.
