How to Beat The Patriots

There is a video by Bill Parcells that explains how to beat the Patriots. It is absolutely incredible. Makes perfect sense for any frustrated Indianapolis fan.

Here's the link

Im pretty sure you can find it on ESPN too.

The Ultimate Showdown: American Football Vs. Rugby

Every football player knows it, every Rugby player acknowledges it, and that my friends is one of the most controversial questions in all sports.

Whats tougher, football or rugby?

Football. The so called "HE MAN" sport. Men donned in armor going at each other for 60 minutes of playing time. (Plus 120 minutes on the sidelines sipping gatorade) Such gruesome hits, you cant even describe it unless you look up a video of it one youtube. Probably the most exciting matchups of the year would be Steven Jackson vs. the Chicago Bears D-Line. Bone crunching action as men rip off each others arms for entertainment. No limits on tackles besides helmet to helmet is what truly makes the sport.

Rugby, the good old game of backyard tackles. No armor, no protection, just under armour to soak up the blood. Men blowing each other over with hits that seem to defy gravity. One player who seems to be gliding down the sidelines, could be laid out the next. Rugby players have to use both their hands in the tackle, just so we dont see sissy tackle like Nebraska's D-Line.

In the end I can't decide which one is tougher. On one hand I wouldn't want to be plowed by Joey Porter, yet on the other I dont want to be thrown ten feet into the air, only to return with equal force. I guess it'll come down to who has more hits, or probably more injuries.

Hello? Anyone here? Dang, its true, nobody cares about high school.

Where's all the articles?

Unjustified Luck

".......And here is the kickoff. Miami with one minute left will try to rally as they currently trail New England 21 to 17. Ted Ginn gets the ball on the 28 yard line.....he picks up a few yards, utilizing his blockers. Wait.... He breaks free! Ted Ginn Jr. the fifty, the fourty, the thirtya, and finally stopped at the 26 yard line. Miami now has a chance to upset one of the greatest teams in NFL history. John Beck lines up under center. Lets see, 1st and 10 from the 26, John Beck gets the ball, short pass to Brooker, immiedietly hit and sent flying out at the 23 yard line. Thirty seconds left as Beck, whos had an outstanding performance today. 25 out of 30 for 345 yards with just one interception by Rodney Harrison. Beck gets the snap, drops bac- Ohhhhhhhhhhh sacked for a loss of six. Miami has no time outs so Beck will hurry them back to the line. Now its 3rd and 13 with 25 seconds left on the clock. Beck gets the ball and he looks to his left. Nobody open, Ted Ginn covered. Here comes the pressure!..... He escapes the sack and takes off sprinting. He slides the ball at the 19 yard line. Wow, nobody except Ty Warren got a hand on him, but even then he slipped off. 9 seconds left, 4th and 3 is left. Beck hurries the offense to the ball, they snap it and Beck drops back for the-quick pass to Ted Ginn picking up the 1st down at the 14 yard line. 2 Seconds left on the clock as Miami takes a long huddle on the play trying to decide what to do. Heres the last play of the game, What the.... Beck goes in motion to the left, Chatman gets the ball pump fakes Asante Samuels, runs deeper into the backfield. He hurls a high one to the corner of the endzone and its...... CAUGHT! MIAMI HAS JUST DEFEATED THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, OH MY GOD! I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT! John Beck went in motion, and ended up catching the ball himse- wait. There's a flag on the field. Lets see what the have to say. Oooooooo, holding on the offense.Thats gotta hurt, John Beck looks to be in tears. I don't think they'll be able to recover from that...."

Meanwhile on the sidelines, a man in a pulled over grey hoodie waves over one of the refs.

"Thanks, go get your wife something nice." The hooded man whispers pulling fifty hundreds out of his pocket.

"No problem Bill. I think I can make the NY game too."

The Golden Age Is Coming, All Hail Roper!

As any avid Duck fan would understand, the beavers have one of the premier defenses in the nation. They remind us every chance they get. And after Dennis Dixon went down, the taunting got even worse. I got elbowed in the ribs more times than a game of backyard rugby. Since I'm a duck all the way, I thought that maybe Brady Leaf could lead us to a miracle victory. Than came UCLA. After he sprained BOTH of his heels I had lost all faith in the ducks. I was near tears when they placed Cody Kempt in the game, he was worse than Peyton Manning against the Chargers. Finally after being blindsided by a Beaver, Kempt went out with a concussion and in came Roper. Next play, touchdown pass.

At that point I was jumping up and down faster than Raider fans before the draft, Roper might actually be good! Not only was Roper good, he was incredible. The statistics don't serve Roper any justice whatsoever though:

51% rating with 144 yards and two TD passes, plus that one interception.

The sad part is, he placed the ball where they always needed to be, its just that Dickson, Williams, or someone else would just drop the ball (Or get the crap blown out of them by Joey Laroque) Its not like he had much time in the pocket either, he was facing a whole line of bulky Hawaiins, each looking for another sack to add to their already stuffed list of hits. After one second a three hundred pound lineman would be flailing his arms in Roper's face, but what would happen? Roper would throw a pass for 6 yards.

Everyone thought Lyle Muoevo (Or however you spell his name) was the far dominant quarterback in this game. Here are three reasons why this isnt true.

1. He had unlimited time in the pocket.

2. His recievers held on to the ball

3. He was playing the Ducks defense. Enough said.

Perhaps the biggest surprise about Roper is that he was just a redshirt coming into this game. Yet he seemingly man handled the linebackers and safties, as if he was playing against Nebraska.

I predict that one year from now, the Oregon Ducks will have recieved a bid to play in the Rose Bowl against Michigan. With Roper at the reigns, and its gonna be 2007 all over again. Oregon 39 - Michigan 7

And the winner for the Autzen award is....

The Heisman, Maxwell, and Groza are all prestigous awards for football players who work their tails off to get everything going for them. All these things are very helpful to a young man's career, maybe boosting him a few picks in the draft, lifting his confidence, or even just giving him something to laugh about.

Now I don't mean to sound indignant or anything, but where do the fans come into this? We come to the game and scream until we start coughing out spittle, and than just keep screaming some more! Commentators will often chuckle or josh about the homefield advantage some teams seem to possess; Oregon, Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Gators, or maybe even Clemson. But in reality it is no laughing matter, these crowds do have an effect on these critical games.

Look at the Civil War for example, before this year the Ducks and Beavs switched off their victories for whoever had homefield. And even this year, when the Beavs were supposed to dominate, the Ducks (Who had Dennis Dixon, Jeremiah Johnson, Calvin Colvin, Brady Leaf, Cody Kempt, John Bacon, and some third string QB injured) made it a 31-38 loss at home in a double overtime thriller. I think the fans boosted the Ducks a bit, don't you?

So whats my point? Why am I blogging when I could be lying on the couch listening to Chris Berman nickname another Patriot? Why don't the home crowds get an award? Well, I was thinking that maybe for the 2008-2009 season the NCAA can hold the competition for best home field, and whoever wins (Based on ticket sales to GA seats, volume, and sportsmanship) gets the honor named after the stadium itself for years to come.

That way, when the seasons over, players aren't the only ones hoisting the trophies.
