Eagles Draft

Now that the Draft is over and I have had some time to analyze the picks, I think that the Eagles draft staff did an OK job. Overall I would give them a "B" for their performance this weekend; that being said, there are defiantly some areas where I am not in agreement with their choices. They did not pick up a big standout WR like many of us have been hoping for, what they did do was to pick up a breakout slot receiver that can certainly help in the return game and might help a little on the offense. I don't think that the addition of a small slot type receiver, no mater how fast, is really what the team needs, but we will have to see how that works out.

Team Players

A team is Individual players working TOGETHER to win. Let's pick people who will make good role models for our children, like Brian Dawkins, Donnovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, and many others already on this TEAM. Remember the old adage there is no I in team, and any player that does not understand that concept is not going to help this team.

Defensive Positional Analysis

Rarely has there been an offseason that has started with such a positive bang. The Eagles are making all the right moves, with more bound to come. Lets start the analysis of the defense.

Offensive Position By Position Analysis

Even before the Draft or Free Agency starts most of the national media outlets rank the Eagles in the teens. CBS Sportsline give them the best ranking at 10, while Sports Ilustrated ranks them at 14. Most eveyone is in agreement we should keep McNabb and try to get him a first class receiver. Here is my analysis of each offensive position, with a look ahead to free agency, which officially begins this week, and the draft.

Eagles Draft Choices

Now that the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine is over; I have watched the potential draftees, listened to the commentary about each one, and looked over some footage of some of the most promising prospects, this is what I would do if I was the one picking for the Eagles in the Draft.

Free Agency in the NFL

All you get from free agency are players who are either past their prime, want too much money, or are disruptive, often all three, otherwise their old team would have kept them in the first place.

NFL Combine

The Combine starts this week and will be televised on the NFL Channel. I will try to watch as much of it as I can. That said, these are the people I think the Eagles should be watching:

Berrian Could be a Solution

At this time it doesn't look like Chicago is going to use their Franchise tag on Bernard Berrian. If not he could be an excellent solution to the Eagles Wide Receiver needs. Check out my full explination at http://crazyphilieaglesfan.blogspot.com.

A look at the NFC East

Now lets take a look at the NFC East division and what the Eagles will possibly be up against next

year. This year certainly didn't turn out as predicted. The Eagles and Cowboys were expected to be slugging it out for first place in the division, while the Giants were expected to end up 8-8, with

the Redskins continuing to improve. That just goes to show how useful predictions can be since the Eagles are the ones who ended up 8-8 and the Giants won the Superbowl, but let's give it a try

anyway. The rest is on my blog at http://crazyphilieaglesfan.blogspot.com/

Congratulations New York

That was quite an exciting fourth quarter last night at the Superbowl. My congratulations go out to the New York Giant on their victory over the New England Patriots. That was the kind of game that the Superbowl should be. Tyree's catch in the fourth quarter is what they get paid to do, make the impossible catch when the game is on the line. It's too bad more players don't seem to put out that sort of effort anymore. Eli Manning was looking alot like his brother near the end of the game. They all looked good and played hard through the entire game. It was very fun to watch.

Plaxico Burress could have been the Birds' go-to guy

I thought at the time that they should have shown more interest in him.

The Eagles Offseason

There are some good points made in this article and the comments. I think that the defence is fine though and all the eagles really need on offence is a really good wide receiver. Check out my blog at http://crazyphilieaglesfan.blogspot.com/ for more and to vote on the poll.
