According to this article, Philip Rivers undwent minor surgery before the AFC Title game yesterday. Going into the off-season, Rivers will need to undergo more major surgery which could require up to 6 months of rehab. The surgery will be conducted on Rivers' right ACL.

ESPN First Take just reported that when/if the Cubs stadium deal goes through, Wrigley Field is likely to undergo a name change. Is it just me, or would it not be the same if the ballpark isn't named Wrigley? I just can't imagine the Cubs playing anywhere other than Wrigley...sure it's the same park, but the name is just connected so much with the history of the park.

According to Las Vegas sports books, the Patriots are a 14 point favorite. How do you feel about this spread, is it too much, too little, what do you think. After a mere 3 point victory by the Pats over the Gmen 3 weeks ago when the Giants could have easily won the game, I personally was expecting a closer spread.

How does everyone feel about all the Peyton Manning commercials? Do you get tired of them or like them or what? Personally I like Peyton and I like all the endorsements and commercials, and most of them are pretty funny.

This game has been tremendous. It's been a hard fought battle on both sides. It's great to see the fire from between the Al Harris and Plaxico Burress matchup. Hopefully the game can continue to be this close and keep the great intensity from both sides. This is what makes watching football fun.

Even if the San Diego Chargers lose to the Pats this evening, they have really proven something to the world. Everyone doubted them since they beat the Colts and said they had no chance whatsoever, especially with injuries to LT, Gates, and Rivers. Well, entering the final quarter, they are only down 2 and they've done that with no LT, very little of Gates, and a hurt Rivers. The Chargers have shown how much heart they have, and it's been a great story that hopefully can continue past this game and onto Arizona. Norv and crew deserve a ton of credit no matter what the outcome.

All the reports are that Bartolo's velocity is down quite a bit and could not even hit 90 on the radar in winter ball and it is said that many teams are not impressed with what they are seeing. Has Colon's injuries finally caught up with him? At the beginning of the off-season I figured he would be able to get at least a 2 year deal from a team looking for a veteran proven starter but after his less than stellar showings to scouts in winter ball I am starting to question if we've seen the last of the for Cy Young winner.

Just reported that Brandon Jacobs along with the entire Giants offensive line will be going with the no sleeves look on the frozen tundra today. According to Jacobs, he hasn't worn sleeves since junior college and he feels that it affects his running. As for the O-Line, they say they are making a statement by not wearing sleeves...the only statement I hear is "We are idiots".

Hedo Turkoglu is having a tremendous year. He's been consistent all year, excluding last weeks trip out West when he had a virus. Unfortunately, Hedo is being totally overlooked on the all-star ballot.

As reported earlier today, the Rockies are close to signing Troy Tulowitzki to a 6 year $30 million deal. I believe the Reds should follow the Rockies example and sign Brandon Phillips long term. Phillips is young and can be the face of the franchise for years, not to mention his extreme talent and capabilities. By locking him up long term, the Reds solidify their middle infield with a gold glove caliber player, as well as add an extremely rare 30/30 second baseman to their lineup.

Many people have been constantly saying Reds starter Matt Belisle is a lock along with Harang and Arroyo for a spot in the Reds rotation next year. I ask why? Belisle has never truely proven he has what it takes to be a consistent major league starter, and with such great young talent, I do not think Belisle is a "lock". If in Spring Training Volquez, Bailey, Cueto, Maloney can prove that they are ready to compete and contribute at the major league level why could they not take Belisle's spot. If Belisle is removed from the rotation, however, I do think he could still contribute from the 'pen. But just giving him a spot just because of his experience and not his performance should not be tolerated.
