I-N-J-U-R-Y. Georgia's starting QB, Joe Tereshinski, went down with a badly injured ankle in the shut-out against South Carolina last Saturday. While I would never insinuate that any coach would want a player to get hurt (fans, on the other hand, are not as nice), Richt surely must be breathing and sleeping much easier with the quarterback controversy seemingly being decided for him.
After 4 years of trying to balance D.J. Shockley and
David Greene, keeping both happy apparently, Richt couldn't have been happy of being in the position of always defending his quarterback decision. The smallest hiccup in the game plan and fans and pundits were quick to call for Tereshinski to get the hook in favor of prep stud
Matthew Stafford.
Now that Joe T. is out of the picture, how much latitude is Richt willing to give Stafford? After all, the three interceptions in the Carolina game build a fuzzy picture. Admittedly, two of the picks were tipped/dropped balls and not bad throws, but it's hard to get past some of his clearly unprepared decisions. Will Richt give Stafford a chance to settle in or will he go to the third string QB?
