Around The Big Ten: Camp Notes

Here is a summary of notes from the camps of teams in the Big Ten Conference, courtesy of dottingthei.com. You can read about Ohio State's camp at dottingthei.com, as well as other great news and analysis of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Big Ten Conference.

DTI 2008 Bowl Forecast

As the excitement heats up on the 2008 football season, talk of a championship run in Columbus seems to be the buzz around town. We do feel the Buckeyes will get to Miami this season, but the question is, who will be their opponent. In this segment, DTI forecasts all 34 bowl games and predicts the winners for each match.

Big Ten Football Jukebox '08

Inspired from the clever concept brought to life by The College Football Guys, DTI brings you a fun and somewhat different outlook of each Big Ten team's 2008 football season, using some of the music world's top-hits to build the storyline from Columbus to Madison, Ann Arbor, State College and beyond. Feel free to critique and analyze each of the selections as all 11 squads have dozens of stories and headlines which could very well factor into the 08′ campaign. Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All-time list is a good place to start…

These games will both kickoff at noon in the Horseshoe. The BTN will also hold the rights to broadcast one conference game later this year and they do not have to select that matchup until 6 or 12 days before the choosen game. In total, the BTN will broadcast 3 OSU games.

Oh what is Rich Rod thinking right now?

Michigan running back, Kevin Grady, was arrested early this morning (July 2nd) for driving while impaired (DWI). The incident took place in Wyoming, Michigan near Ann Arbor. Arraignment is scheduled for July 9th.

Grady had implications of becoming a starting running back (sharing time with Brandon Minor and Carlos Brown amongst others) after recovering from an ACL tear last year.

This is the first arrest (first of many to come, we assume) for Michigan Football under new Head Coach Rich Rodriguez, so it will be interesting to see how he deals with troublesome athletes.

Confidence: USC vs. OSU

The hype has begun. The Ohio State University Buckeyes vs. the University of Southern California Trojans on the gridiron, 8:00 pm ABC, September 13th, from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Most Ohio State fans are trying to be cautiously optimistic but are mentally preparing for the worst as the Buckeyes are coming off of two devastating BCS National Championship Game losses. Conversely, this game is of utter importance for a lot of reasons as it could have implications on not only this season's outcome but it could also could do further damage to OSU's poor reputation as the power in a weak Big 10 that is much inferior to powerful SEC.

Know Thy Enemy: Big Ten Recruiting Round-Up

With Jim Tressel already notching 23 commitments in the class of 2009, it's easy to get caught up in the Buckeyes' early success. Some other programs, particularly around the conference have not had as much success and are struggling to get into double digits for the 2009 class. Here's a look at what some other Big Ten teams have on board thus far:

Lovin' The Mondays: Buckeyes Add Two More

Just as DTI finished wrapping up how crazy this past weekend was for Ohio State fans, the Buckeyes landed commitments number 21 and 22 for the class of 2009. Today, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Monroeville (PA) Gateway WR/CB Corey Brown gave his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes and later in the afternoon it was announced that Dublin Scioto DB Bradley McDougald pledged his services to Jim Tressel's staff as well. The Buckeyes continued their recruitment of the 2009 class at a record-breaking pace and available spots continue to close up in, what could be, the best recruiting class in Ohio State history.
