so, brock lesnar wears another champtionship belt!
.
so what happened? how could someone like randy couture get beat by a WWE wrestler? very easily, 60lbs and 6 inches. the size, weight and reach advantage just provided too much for the UFC hero. so does this change the way we think of randy? does it change the way we think of lesnar? how does this affect mma?
well, randy is still the champ we all love and nothing can change that. his accomplishments inside and outside the ring can overcome any defeat he may suffer this late in his career. does it show that maybe he's beyond is prime? yes, of course it does. a younger randy could have destroyed brock lesnar, no matter what anyone thinks. but, that doesn't mean s@#. randy past is prime is still better than most fighters at their best, so as long as he can keep competing on the same level, there is no reason for him to stop.
so what does it mean for lesnar? well, i still do not believe his credibility is or will be backed by this win. i think he still has a lot of proving to do. by beating randy he has made a great achievement, but it's not making anyone stand up and take notice of him or take him seriously.
and lastly, how does it affect the ufc? well, i think it seriously damages the credibility of the ufc to have someone like him as champion. sure, it'll draw all those wwe fans, but are they going to be watching it for the entertainment or for the sport? what about the die hards? do you think they're going to continue watching it or think it's becoming more of a soap opera like wwe?
i definitely think this is going to have a major impact on the ufc and it can go in a lot of ways, we'll all just have to sit back and watch.

in a game i actually did not get to watch, the tide finally showed complete game stamina to dominate and defeat tenn. this is never an easy game for the tide and it really goes to show just how strong they are mid-season. the next few weeks should really show the mice of men etc.
more to come monday....
[b]ROLL TIDE!!

so my sister just returned from lowes motor speedway in north carolina. she said she had an incredible time and it was beautiful and all that stuff.. then she told me about her "neighbour".
apparently the trailer owner, called "moonshine", beside her had multiple guns on the premises. they were fondly referred to by "moonshine's" 8 year old son as for the "negroes". and this little boy had a lot to say about his fellow americans, how they were only good for working the fields and how mexicans worked better though.
i was honestly stunned, baffled and saddened all at the same time. i honestly thought nascar was beyond this small minded thought process. how wrong i was.
not to get political on a sports forum, but i really feel for barack obama, having to try to win over people like this. this attitude and mindset is the same as the very terrorists the US fights against. the only way to beat either of them is through proper education, not "learnin' from pops".

who would've thunk it?
who can believe it?
i surely can't.
the list of opponents texas has defeated includes the high powered teams such as RICE, UTEP, FLORIDA-ATLANTIC AND COLORADO!!!
now, i follow a lot of college football, and yea, i've heard of utep, rice and colorado.. but the only name i know from the list is the buffaloes. doesn't that say something about them as opponents?
i'm not suggesting, i'm clearly stating that texas has had an easy ride and getting lucky by beating oklahoma doesn't mean anything. i am completely unimpressed with their performance thus far and don't believe they are #1 until they beat missouri in good fashion next week.
and, to be completely honest, 3 weeks from now if texas is still undefeated, then they're #1. highly doubtful, but whatever.
the tide's rolling in, don't get caught in it.

which puts my favorite college team smack dab in #1, or so one would assume!
there are a lot of arguments flying around about texas now being #1.. by texans, lol. i just read an article stating texas has 2 big wins. one over oklahoma and the other over.. are you ready for this.. colorado buffaloes!
now, just out of curiousity, how can you even compare alabama with a team that's second best win was against someone who can hardly stay in the division, lol. alabama cruised through 2 victory against ranked teams, texas not so much. beating the sooners by 10 points is not showing real authority or domination.
i know it's hard to swallow, but nick saban was worth every dime the tide paid for him and it's just too damn bad your favorite team missed the boat on him.

okay boys,
so we're continuing on with our thoughts on the great mma sports fan, dana white.
coming very soon, we have another fight that easily shows that dana is about one thing, money. he talks about the sport and doing everything for it, etc. but it just isn't true. he did all that footwork for the money.
randy couture vs. brock lesnar.
first of all, who the hell is brock lesnar to be on the same card as randy couture, let alone in a fight against him? he's won how many mma fights? out of those fights, were either one of them #1 contenders for the heavyweight title? do you really believe that anyone other than brock lesnar would be treated the same, only having to fight twice to get a shot at randy? i think not. why does brock get a shot, cuz it'll sell tickets, the same reason bj penn is getting a shot at georges st. pierre. dana could care less if either contenders were qualified to fight opponents like gsp or randy, he just cares about the figures. bj penn lost both his last welterweight fights, how does that make him #1 contender? even the mighty anderson silva is still having to prove himself in the light-heavyweight division before he gets a shot at the title. is dana seriously suggesting that bj penn deserves more credit than anderson silva?
dana white is repeatedly showing serious disrespect towards his fighters and putting them in positions champions from other sports wouldn't dream of accepting.
could you imagine mayweather fighting booker t or some crap like that? i seriously think not.
dana, you're doing a great job at bringing mma down, i think it's time you step aside and let someone who is a true sports enthusiast take over, not a money enthusiast like you.

well, i have a very hard time disguising my contempt for dana white. in my opinion he's as much a snake as every promoter, label or owner in any industry that blows up.
here's a little excerpt from his last interview regarding elitexc and kimbo slice...
"it disgusts me. I've been busting my (expletive) for 10 years flying all over the planet to show everybody what a great sport this is and what amazing people are involved in it. Then CBS throws this guy who fights at people's barbecues on the main event because they're trying to compete with us, and he gets knocked out in (14) seconds by a guy who didn't win 'The Ultimate Fighter' and couldn't fight in the UFC. Then the guy turns around the next day and says, 'The promoters actually paid me to not go to the ground with this guy. They paid me to stand up,' which I'm pretty sure is illegala€¦. (Slice is) a joke. It was bound to happen. These guys have lost $60 million trying to get this thing off the ground. They're building their promotion around a guy who can't fight. It's kind of (expletive) stupid, isn't it? You're in the fight business and you're building your business around a guy who can't fighta€¦. When dirty people go out and do stuff like that, it hurts. Promoters have a bad rap as it is because of the last 100 years of boxing. We actually started to turn that around and were doing the right things and then you have these guys coming out and doing (expletive) like that. It hurts us."
you know what disgusts me dana, how you think people are stupid enough to buy into the pot calling the kettle black. i mean, when kimbo was brought in, didn't you counter with brock lesnar? and i'm gonna go out on a limb here.. but can you find 10 TRUE MMA enthusiasts who will argue FOR brock's talent? i guess i can begrudging say that brock's not being baby'd with the fight against randy.. but i'm pretty sure there's something fishy there too. righttttttttttttttt, now i remember, the payout. the two biggest ppv paycheques fighting in the same event!!
whatever the cash, er case, dana's a douchebag who uses and underpays his fighters. it's truly sad that the UFC is the standard of MMA and the company we associate with it.
