I had the opportunity to go to Indy and see the Patriots play the Colts on Sunday night 11/2/08. First of all, I have to give it up to the Indy fans. They truely love their Colts and my entire experience was positive and a lot of fun.
I have been to Indy before to the see a Pats\Colts game. I was lucky enough to see the 06 Pats\Colts AFC championship with my brother at the RCA Dome. Before that game, I heard the stories of the noise levels but that didn't prepare me. It was the loudest football game I have ever been too and since. It seemed like the entire building was shaking which it probably was.
It wasn't as loud last night but the atmosphere was just as electric. The new field at Lucas Oil Stadium (the oil drum) is phenominal. Cool design all around. The big window was closed but you could still see the city and it made for a picture perfect setting. The fans are super loyal and treated us Patriots fans about as good as you would expect. Some heckling but all in good fun.
I couldn't get over the stadium. I was truly in awe then my buddy Papa D noticed something that seemed a little strange. The "championship banners" were not all championship banners. The banners were for the "2003 AFC Championship Finalist"? They have banners for Finalist? If that wasn't enough they have banners for the Wildcard?
What is that? Not to belittle any accomplishment and I understand making it to the AFC championship is not easy in the NFL which by the way the Colts lost to the Patriots in the 03 AFC champsionship. However, they are better off hanging a 03 AFC South championship banner. Isn't that what a championship banner is all about? Finalist?
Picture me saying Finalist like Jim Mora saying Playoffs..........

At what point do you as a spectator in a crowd of fully clothed people decide it is okay to take you shirt off and show off your fat stomach? Unless it's 10 degrees or lower, you should never try to pull this off. Ok, it's never okay to randomly pull your shirt off at the game and jump around like a fool. Never!

Easier said than done. I really can't blame the guy that much. Think about it. You're named the starter days before the game. You have played a great game so far. You're beating Peyton's Colts by 10 with 4 minutes left. What's the worst that can happen? Well, here it is: this video shows both muffs.

As far as football pre-game shows go, I'm partail to ESPN's NFL Countdown. I did have a stint where I watched fox's show but they got to the point where it was an hour of guys cracking jokes and gigling. It was funny and all but I wanted more technical information such as O-line\D-line matchups. ESPN simply delivers the information with less BS. Boom does have his tangents and Key will mumble through some useless banter. But that is to be expected out any of the pre-game show. CBS's show for some reason always seems stale and without life.
It seems like every year, the shows try to add a little some extra to the lineup. In the past, Fox had Kimmel then Frank, ESPN has added and removed so many segments through the years. This year they have added this EA sports virtual players segment with a little hype. It sucks. Flat out sucks. Yes its pretty cool technology. I have to give the guys at EA props. The players represented have all the intricate details of their real-life counterparts, but the segment needs work. I guess its better than having the Coach, Key, and TJ running plays. But something is off.
