Not the start I was expecting

Like I said yesterday, the Lakers are the Western Champs and they proved it. We got smacked in the mouth; period, point blank. It got to the point where I was admiring the way their team looked top to bottom.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and there was a lot to learn from that game. We are still a work in progress. But, that's the kind of defense we have to play to be successful. That's the play we have to aspire to.

Off to practice

Opening Night Eve...

Yo what up out there in the Yard?

For me, right now, all I can think of is tomorrow. Wednesday is our Opening Night, the first game of the season. My first game for the Clippers. I'm sitting and watching the Lakers on TNT tonight, cheering like a fan, remembering that tomorrow it's gonna be us against them. I know I'm excited when I can't sleep for two days before the game. I've been practicing, trying to get used to being on the court even though I'm not at 100%. But being back with my teammates reminds me how much I miss the game and how much I want to play. The love is still there. The hunger still burns. Those are the things that remind me.

Watching all the nba previews and reading all the articles about the season has got me turned up too. It's really important to me that I get out and show everyone what I'm capable of because it seems like there are so many people that want to write us off already. Obligatory Haters. All the more people to prove wrong. (Oh, and Bill Simmons: I'm not coming on the podcast until you get your act together and be a real fan. LOL)

Our first game is against the Lakers. I say Bring It On. It's exactly how you want to start off, by playing against the best in the West, sizing ourselves up against the Western Champs. Kobe is still my favorite too. Sitting here, watching him on TNT, and I'm still rewinding his dunks on my Tivo just like the rest of you. LA is his town. But it's my home too and LA's big enough for us both. Clipper Nation: I know you have been patient a long time but I'm here to assure you that you are gonna be proud to be a part of this season.

I'm shooting baskets at the park outside my house tonight before I go to sleep. Tomorrow, I'll be at Staples Center early to make sure my family and friends are all settled. Theres a lot of pressure on me now that I'm back at home - that's what everyone's saying. So I guess that means the pressure starts tomorrow. Gotta make sure to load up my ipod with the right music to warm up to. It's Makavelli, All Eyez on Me... you know the drill. Strictly LA hip hop for the Lakers vs the Clippers.. or should I say, Clip Hop LOL.

Remember when you were a kid on Christmas Eve? Tonight's kinda like that cause the sooner I go to bed, the sooner I can wake up and it'll be game daya€¦

Shout out to everybody in the yard. I'm thinking about you Donovan. And Bosh.. I'm comin for you at ibeatyou.com!

PEACE

Boom

back with some updates

What's up YB... I KNOW it's been a minute but your boy Boom is back in the yard with updates!!!

First off... I'm so excited to be back in LA. The Clippers have a brand new training facility here and now it's my second home... actually my first home. Been working hard in training camp and everyone's slowly coming together. Feeling good about this team - a great group of guys.

Chris Kaman is funny as hell!!! How does this guy not have his own reality show...? Seriously, I'm gonna follow him around with my camera after practice and call it "Life On Mars." I want royalties if they go with that name tho... LOL. Good to be back with my boy Ricky D, who I started the NBA with back in Charlotte. And I'm back with JHart who I grew up playing against in LA. We were the two top pgs in high school and now we're on the LA Clippers together (Watcha know about those Cali PGs!!!). The team has sooo much personality it's scary. Last night was just our first preseason game, and I am already looking forward to opening night.

We call our fans the Clipper Nation out here, and I'm tryin to find the best of the best. If you think you're the biggest Clipper Fan OUT THERE, then record a video proving why you are the biggest Clipper Fan and come compete!!! I'm gonna pick the winner from all the entries and hook em up with two tickets to see us play at Staples Center this season. Who's it gonna be?

http://www.ibeatyou.com/competition/900743/boomdizzle-aka-baron-davis-presents-biggest-clippers-fan/entry/562410/my-intro-and-rules

Ok, so a few weeks ago, I'm shooting a commercial with Chris Bosh and some other NBA guys for ESPN. Bosh and I start talking about who is funnier, him or me. Of course he got pub from that All-Star video he filmed last season when he was the car salesman. He called me out cause I'm from LA and I'm supposed to "know Hollywood," whatever that means. So we decided to settle it online with a friendly competition: who can create the funniest web video - me or Bosh. I'll let y'all know when that's coming out. We're letting the viewers decide who wins so I'm definitely gonna holler at you for votes...

PEACE YA'LL

Sending out prayers today...

I'm sending prayers to the victims and families of the Columbia plane crash. I light and candle and honor your memories.

Lil Chris: you were my homie and I had nothing but luv and respect for you.

You will be truly missed

Monta...

When I got the news about Monta's injury it made me think about my own college injuries and the road back to being healthy. I hope my little bro gets back on the court soon but my advice homie: BE PATIENT. The Warriors training staff is going to give him great support and if anyone can come back stronger it's him. Monta has the ultimate confidence and work ethic. But the most important thing is patience.

I don't like to see when guys try to play hurt cause in the end they're the only ones who get judged by it. Fans and reporters sometimes don't mention that the guy's hurt. Sometimes they don't know. But everyone is waiting for you to be back to the level you were. As long as you listen to your body, are open and honest with the trainers, and you keep your goals in mind, then it's possible to come back even stronger than before.

Look at Amare.... it's hard to believe he had microfracture surgery! MJ sat out his second season taking care of his foot while the whole league was screaming for him to come back. But he was thinking of his entire career, not just one season.

Think about the future, be patient, and work hard at your rehab. That's always my advice when I hear people are hurt. Monta... praying for you bro!

BOOM

OBAMA '08!!!!

OK. Hope ya'll watched Barack Obama's acceptance speech Thursday night. If he didn't move you maybe the sound was turned down. When it was over I felt like I was ready to go out to Venice Beach and start registering people to vote right then at 9pm. We've got to show up on Nov. 4th to vote this man into the White House!!! FOR REAL!

His ideas about recharging our education system by investing in early education and raising teacher's salaries were seriously inspiring. It's what I try to provide with my non-profit, TeamPlay, teaching kids leadership skills that show them the right way out of the cycle of poverty and violence. I wouldn't be where I am today without the teachers and mentors who showed me positive definition of success. And Barak is planning to do it across the whole country. INCREDIBLE

(I know he said he's gonna raise the taxes on the top income bracket, Gil, but if he uses that money to improve our schools then you won't have to worry about some kids trying to sell pictures of your pool online cause they couldn't get a better job.) LOL

But seriously, he made his case calm and cool and now it's up to us to listen and to act. He's not going to be able to do it on his own. We have to get out and vote on November 4th. If you're not registered or if you don't know if you are or not check these websites :

CONGRATS TO USA BASKETBALL

Stayed up late to watch the gold medal game in Beijing last night. What a game! I gotta shout out the 2008 Redeem Team for reclaiming the gold for the USA.

Kobe is a phenomenon - those fourth quarter 3s were killers! Wade looks like he is seriously back for 08-09. No other team in the world would have Dwayne Wade coming off the bench except on Playstation. And LeBron is still the King. But with all the talent there, they still had to play unselfish, play defense, and play together to beat Spain.

BTW, Spain balled their asses off - can't wait till Rubio makes it to the league. He's a gem. Portland should be nice too, with Oden AND Rudy Fernandez coming in (did you see that nasty one-hand over Dwight Howard, are you kidding???)

But I'm so proud of our guys. That was truly the way to rep Red White and Blue. It would be an honor to play for the gold in London 2012 to keep the Olympic title where it belongs, here in the US. What a dream come true. I can hear the crowd now chanting: USA USA USA!

BOOM!

Maroon Boom... any challengers?

Bet you didn't know your boy boom had skills like this...LOL If you think you can do better come test your skills at IBeatYou!!! I'll be watching... Keep working T.B. keep your head up.

Back in the Mix...

Yessirr!!! Boom back in the Yard after a little bit of a layoff!!! 1st off I want to thank you guys for all the support and prayers that have been going out to my lil' bro Troy, we really appreciate it as he fights to get back.

Man have things been busy! I just got back from spending a week in the bay for camp... yup CAMP in the BAY!!! Rising Stars of America aka RSOA aka Boom hoops with the Kids!!!... Camp is always fun for me because it gives me a chance to spend time with the people that remind me what this game is all about... THE KIDS!!! YA DIGG!!! To everyone that came out and participated... TWO CLAPS!!!. Campers came from all over the bay and beyond to attend Oakland, Frisco, Redmond, Pebble Beach, Walnut Creek and... wait for it... wait for it... JAPAN!!! now thats LOVE!!! 11hr flight to hoop with ya boy LOL!!! Thank you to all the coaches that came out to help, Merritt College for letting us take over the facilities and giving us a place to do our thing, Coach Roper for hobbling around with his admin crew to make sure camp ran smoothly, Symantec for bringing the Hulk truck and teaching the kids to browse the web safely, Powerade for keeping the kids hydrated through out the week, Reebok for outfitting the kids with gear and doing give aways all week and last but not least my surprise guest and new GSWarrior Corey Maggette for taking the time out to come share some knowledge with us... Wow that was a lot! The folks from the Yard came through and shot some video of camp, make sure you check it out. Also make sure you check out the footage of me running loose through the Oakland Boys and Girls Club... I told you, you would be on TV LOL!!! Boom Loves the Kids!!!

Accident

Sending my prayers out to my lil bro troy. We r praying that u have a speedy recovery and that god has his healing hands on you. I ask that everyone say a prayer for my bro. We will make it thru!!!!!

It's Official...

Ybbbbbb, what's good. Its your boy Boom. Its offcial, I'm a Clipper, and it feels great! One of the big reasons I wanted to come back home was so I could impact the communities of my hometown in a positive way, and I'm excited to do that. I was trying to wear number 85, in honor of the street I grew up on and where my basketball career was truly started by my grandfather who built my first hoop in our backyard. However, I chose number 1, I've worn it before and feel comfortable in it. Oooo and be on the lookout for some special edition number 85 jerseys! HUH!! Honey I'm homeeee!! LOL. We have a lot of work to do as a team, and I'm ready for the challenge. But, its time for a couple days vaca and then back on the grind. Gotta get to the jet. I'm out!

Guess Who's Bizzack...

Welcome homeeee! Lol its ya boy BoomDizzle the new Hollywood Boom or now it should be called HollyBoom! I'm a Clipper now and I couldn't be any happier to come home. The sad part is I'm leaving a city that truly made me feel welcomed. My fans and supporters in the bay will always have a place in my heart. Ya digg! I really just had to express how excited I am about being home. But check it, I'm off to dinner. So check back tommorow.. Same time, same channel.. I got something special planned for all my fans! Ill holla!

Competitive Vibes...

What up YB, your boy BoomDizzle stopping through the yard. This past week I have been really focused on working out. I think seeing the Lakers and Celtics go head to head was getting those competitive vibes going. I need to lead my team there... to the big show! Ya Digg! The series was extremely competitive, both teams were hungry. I actually did an interview with Kobe a couple weeks ago, talking about the road to the championship, I knew he was focused... but it was anybodies series to win and Boston took it. Big shout out to "Truth", P Squared aka Paul Pierce. He and I grew up together and it was a great season for him and his team. Just one thing, its our turn next year P! I have to send much love to my bro Cash and sis Jessica. Congrats! Boom is officially an uncle! LOL, that's crazy HUH!!

This week is nothing but basketball, I'm glad I have some free time to focus and rest. But next week it's back to my busy schedule... Anyone want to take some meetings for me?? JK. Baron Davis Camp coming soon, be there or be square... remember when you were little and that phrase was cool. HAHA. Anyway, I'm off to lunch. Ill holla.

Me and Snoop Freestyling...

Im backkkkkkkkk!! Last Saturday... Isn't the weekend when you're suppose to rest?? I'm up early and I'm on the grind! I'm letting the league know now, next year I'm out for revenge! I kinda have a lil bit of a chip on my shoulder, so I'm waking up each morning and working hard…hey, its my JOB right! LOL

Shout out to my boy Tew from FTB and everyone involved in helping support the RSOA scholarship fund. Last week we had a "Teamplay" fundraiser that went really well, I want to thank everyone who came out and supported the cause. To all my fans, camps coming up soon so make sure you check out RSOA.net for all the details. Ya Digg!!

Last Sunday was definitely not my day of rest. Me and the Mayor of LA kicked it for during annual brunch for "LA's Best", haha your boy is one of LA's Best! LOL. This after school mentoring program that serves more than 50,000 inner city kids is especially close to me because is was a member when I was a kid so I always enjoy helping the cause. I cant help but support a special organization that's close to my heart. My boy Forest Whitaker received the humanitarian award, he's a great person, just an all around standup guy. I have nothing but love for Forest and respect him for what he has accomplished. Forest when I need some acting lessons I'm coming to holler at you! Sunday night I was fresh to death and headed to the Sports Spectacular, man I look like Denzel in this suit! The event is an annual event that raises more than $1 million each year to benefit Cedars-Sinai and the battle against birth defects. I got the call a couple months ago that I would be one of four athletes honored. Gabby Reese, Mike Strahan and Ray Lewis, were the 3 other honorees, a great class to be included in and extremely humbling. Derek Fisher also received an inspirational award. He and his family truly have a story that touched the hearts of everyone who has heard it. Big shout out to D. Fish and his fam! It was great to have all of my family and friends there with me. Cash was able to present me with the award. Yo, I'm about to be uncle Boom!! LOL. It doesn't get any better than that. I got that shirt for you Cash. LOL. I want to thank Terrin Christensen for being a true hero and helping me out on stage. Hey Steve, does the Aston feel like the Luzco Dragon Racing car? Maybe we will trade. My night ended with me and Snoop freestyling…HUH! I mean what else do I need to say.

Soooo, this weekend I decided to chill. I stuck to my regular workout schedule and really just chilled around the house. I took a dip in the pool, you know in L.A. we have the perfect weather for that and kicked it wit the fam, my favorite thing to do during my free time… hey my summer is going just as planned!

100 MPH in the Aston...

BoomDizzle in the yard. My 2 week vacation is over and I'm back grinding like the Clipse. Basketball is my focus and this summer I'm working out harder than ever to make sure that next year making the playoffs is guaranteed. This western conference is crazyyy. I love basketball, so although these workouts may kill me, I'm doing what I love most.

For those of you that don't know I spent last Sunday at the Indianapolis 500 supporting my boys Steve and Jay over at Luczo Dragon Racing. To give you a brief rundown on what it is about you should check out the other #5's blog fellow Barker D.McNabb he was one of the 12 new celebrity partners. Congrats on joining the team man its an awesome group! I know I am a little late on putting this up but in the spirit of Bill Simmons and major sporting events, I tried to keep a running diary on my blackberry, it was a little difficult while taking pictures and signing autographs but hey I gave it a try!!! LOL!!! ..........

My day at Indy was crazy!! I got into Indy at 5am just in time to take a quick nap. I'm hanging out with my boy Hall Of Famer Marcus Allen, we are on the bus headed to the track. This is a sweet deal, police escort, I'm feeling real presidential... did you say Obama... HUH! Slash and his boy Cheese are cutting up in the back, those guys are hilarious. How is this for an odd couple, me and Bode Miller (US Alpine Skier), check him out he has some hardware, walking the red carpet LOL... Be right back I am off to the interview room. Check it, we have the "ibeatyou" logo on the Luczo Dragon Racing car. I'm in the pit, its crazy, there are sooooooo many people, ive hear whispers of 400,000 WOWWW... uh oh another interview (Check me out ma I'm on the Jumbotron!!!). I don't realize it all the time but I appreciate the love I get across the country, ya'll definitely keep me motivated! I am in the presence of a true legend, Indy great Roger Penske (if you don't know you better ask somebody!!!!) The race is about to start, gentlemen start your engines!! The pace cars are circling... and I can feel the rush. The energy on the track is amazing I feel like I am about to play a game!! I couldn't imagine driving a car at 200mph, well maybe 100mph in the Aston! HUH! I think T.Scheckter has a great chance to win today LDR #12... ya digg. That lady from Dancing with The Stars sung the National Anthem, Juliana Huff, I think her name is, she's Dope. Man, Scheck is holding his own out there staying in the top 5 for most of the race at this point. I'm down in the pit now!!! Ringside feeling real bossy... LOL!!!. yo, for the record, the pit crews are monsters, I wish I could get my tires and fuel that quick, I wouldn't be late to anything... LOL NOOOOO!!!!! We were in third. If you saw the race you would know what happened. We broke a drive shaft trying to get out of the pits. The race was tight, Danica was in 7th and closing but she just got knocked out of the race by Ryan Brisco. Danica is a firecracker, she walked all the way down pit row to go after Brisco's crew!!! I love racing!!! I might have to jump in a GO KART and serve some of my teammates...

So I commandeered our truck trying to get out of the speedway but there are 400,000 people trying to leave as well, where is that police escort when you need it, but I think we are going to be good I got Marcus ridin' shotgun... just found us a police escort and we are out!!!!. I'm back home by dinner time and I think I might have got sunburned, that heat was crazy. O and congrats to Scott Dixon for winning the race...Welcome to my summer. Ill holla!!
