J.D. Drew's 2-Run Home Run Wins It For The Red Sox

Jon Lester gave the Boston Red Sox 7 strong innings and Jason Bay's 2-run home run in the 6th inning got them on the scoreboard as they went on to a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in front of 44,996 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The win tonight was the 10th straight postseason win for the Red Sox over the Angels, a streak that dates back to 1986.

As many of you know WEEI re-launched its website in an attempt to be a local version of ESPN.com or Yahoo! Sports and other national sites. As part of this re-launch they have hired Rob Bradford, Mike Felger, Will Leitch and others to write articles and blog entries for weei.com. Now they want to add two more people, locals to blog about the Boston sports scene.

The WNBA's Connecticut Sun are starting to take on a little bit of a UConn flavor as they have added two more former UConn Huskies women's basketball players to the team in the past week, joining Ashia Jones.

The postseason accolades are continuing to roll in for UConn Huskies freshman sensation Maya Moore as she was named to the ESPN.com All-America First Team. Renee Montgomery also received votes. Candace Parker from Tennessee was named ESPN.com's Player of the Year.

On Friday night in Hartford, CT, the Big East announced their regular season awards for basketball and I'd have to say that the UConn Huskies players did alright.

We've seen the pictures from the Mike Lowell Foundation Red Sox dance-off last night. Now we have the video.

The #1 UConn Huskies women's basketball team took the #6 LSU Lady Tigers best punch on Monday night and were able to recover from it as the Huskies held on to beat the Lady Tigers at the Maravich Athletic Center and a nationally televised audience. The win for the Huskies was their sixth straight and ended LSU's 14-game winning streak.

It was a very emotional day at Gampel Pavilion today as the UConn Huskies women's team honored their four seniors, Brittany Hunter, Ketia Swanier, Charde Houston and Mel Thomas before the game (video in the notes section after the jump). As you can expect tears were flowing from the players being honored to the players on the bench to the fans in the stands. I'm sure there was probably a few tears shed as well by people watching at home. These four players are wishing for one thing this year, a National Championship, as they are the only senior class in the last 20 years or so not to go to a Final Four.

We all know how much Red Sox fans hate the Yankees and by the Yankees I mean the whole enchilada. The players, the manager, the management, the fans, you name it. And now it seems as though we can have a little fun with a Yankees player Red Sox Nation.

I think the Big East can give Maya Moore the Big East Freshman of the Year award after another outstanding performance. Moore scored 25 of her career-high tying 31 points as the Huskies used a huge first half to spank the Marquette Golden Eagles 95-63 at the XL Center on Tuesday night.

It wasn't pretty at all for the #13 UConn Huskies tonight as they twice had to overcome 13 point leads and they used a 25-7 run to end the game in order to beat the DePaul Blue Demons 65-60 in front of 14,858 fans and a nationally televised audience at the XL Center. The win for the Huskies is their tenth straight and ninth in a row since Jerome Dyson was suspended.
