WGN White Sox announcers nominated as biggest homers in sports

...by me. I am watching the White Sox/Tigers game. I can't stand these guys. In my opinion, the announcers are not supposed to be the biggest fans of the team they do commentary for. Even Michael Kay can make an unbiased comment occasionally. The White Sox announcer just wooped and hollered when the White Sox scored a run (it was on two consecutive passed-balls, it should be noted. the Sox didn't have to do anything for it). He calls Sox players by their first name, including calling Jim Thome, "Jimmy".

Honestly...irritating. I can't wait until they either 1. don't make the playoffs or 2. are swept in the first round.

Yankees to face off against the media

In light of the two sides' contentious past, umpires have called a pre-emptive warning against the Yankees, as Jim Rome has been beaned in the head with a 90 mph fastball eight times in recent matchupsâ€"including twice while in the on-deck circle.

YES broadcaster and sports talk-radio host Michael Kay will be doing the play-by-play. The media refused to let him join their team again, as in previous years, he has openly rooted for the opposing Yankees, and according to Caple, he "throws like a girl."

Colts fans boo 14-year old Patriots fan

They're doing the Punt-Pass-Kick finals at the Colts game, and they just introduced all the finalists. Fans booed the representative from New Hampshire, a 14-year old girl, who was wearing a Patriots jersey.

Class personified.

Patriots 10, Giants 7, NFL 7

Patriots up 10-7 after Randy Moss is flagged for spiking the ball, as it is apparently illegal to celebrate (though another certain receiver is allowed to dunk the ball on the upright). This penalty comes just one play after Randy Moss was leveled by a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit, with no call. As the Patriots were forced to kick from 15 yards further back, the Giants easily returned the kick for a touchdown. As we suspected, Mr. Goodell is doing everything in his power to ensure the Patriots go 15-1.

Note for Patriot-haters that are inevitably going to post a comment: go on NFL.com and watch the replay before you call me a conspiracy nut.

Suzyn Waldman defends her on-air sobbing by calling us all sexist.

Yeah, you're right, lady: we're sexist for making fun of you a little bit for crying on air.

If it was a man who cried on-air, we'd be laughing more, and we'd be making fun of him way more than you can imagine.

C'mon lady, even the players care about it less than you.

Jets season ticket holder sues Patriots for spanking his team

After coming to the chilling realization that the Jets are not a playoff caliber team, and he would be unable to scalp the tickets he has for playoff games, one 48-year old Jets fan decided to take advantage of America's legal system: he believes that he is entitled to over $180 million because the Patriots beat the Jets (allegedly by cheating, though it's difficult to believe that the Jets coaches issued a signal that said "let Ellis Hobbs run back a 108-yard kick"). Everyone knows about the Patriots VideoGate "scandal" (by scandal, I mean Eric Mangini snitching on the guy who's 100% responsible for his success in the NFL. Just remember Eric, that without Belichick, you'd still be working for Waste Management and coaching your son's Pop Warner team.

Great Moments in Red Sox History #7

The Cincinatti Kid who jumped on the Yankees bandwagon like how many other million people ain't lookin' too smart tonight, as Mo Rivera blows a three run lead to the hated Red Sox. A-Rod continued to hit as if his bat is corked, except in the 9th inning...when it counted most. Don't forget folks, he's still A-Rod, not David Ortiz.

Thhheeeee Yankees lose!

A-Fraud gets out in the 9th, Rivera blows the save, and the Sox don't need Papelbon to shut 'em down in the 9th.

All around great game.

SD-NE Officials Blow Two Calls

Antonio Gates fumbles at the 1-yard line, and they call it imcomplete. Utter bullshit call, he came down on both feet, and turned towards the endzone, a "football move". This on top of the other PI call that wasn't called earlier...I'm not liking the way this bonus system for refs is looking....

My Red Sox/Yankees Rant

The Red Sox pitching makes me think I'm watching slow-pitch softball, they're horrible. However, I do believe the Sox will manage to win the last two, with Schilling going Sunday and Wells going Monday (who has been looking very good, believe it or not).

Everyone's been talking about how hard it must be for the Yankees, with all their injuries...but no one seems to notice the Red Sox problems...Clement, Varitek, Nixon are just as important to the Sox as Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield are to the Yankees...since Varitek's injury, the Sox are 6-11, with the pitching staff's ERA up over a full run. And the difference between the Sox and Yankees is only one of them just goes out and get's a $16 million replacement for an injured player (I'm lookin at you Bobby Abreu). Jason Varitek is essential to the Red Sox' pitchers, especially with a 22-year old starter ( Jon Lester) and a 25-year old closer (who's blown two saves since Varitek's departure).

I've heard several prominent sports reporters say that Joe Torre should get manager of the year (Jim Leyland must be steamed) because he's done so well with the injury problems. I'd switch with Torre anyday...to make $2 million to sit on a bench and pull on my ear, and tip my cap at people on a baseball field...I realize he's get a bunch of hardware on his hand, but when your team's owner is willing to spend every dime to his name (which is a whole hell of a lot of dimes, in The Boss's case), you don't deserve any credit for it, he doesn't have to manage, he's basically fielding an All-Star team every day, don't try to tell me it's hard work.

Ok, I'm done, thanks for listening.

David Ortiz is most clutch hitter in baseball history.

Ortiz hits a game-tying single in the 8th inning today. So now, just try to argue with me that he's not the MVP as well as baseball's most clutch hitter. And don't give me any of that "A-Rod's number actually aren't that bad in big situations" bullcrap, cuz I'm not buying it.

Red Sox catcher jinx?

The same day that Boston received Javy Lopez from Baltimore, their other catcher, Doug Mirabelli has been injured as well. As Carl Crawford slid into home, he grabbed the strap of Mirabelli's shin guard on his left leg, twisting Mirabelli's knee awkwardly.

I'm watching the game right now, and Mirabelli just came out to the on-deck circle, as if he's going to bat in the 2nd, however he didn't get the chance, as Alex Cora struck out to end the inning. Javy Lopez lead off the third inning with a strike out.

As of right now, the Red Sox have only one bench player, backup outfielder Gabe Kapler. Mike Lowell is injured after fouling a ball off his foot in yesterday's game, and he is the next backup catcher. If somehow Lopez is hurt during this game, Alex Cora is the next catcher...and that would involve Gabe Kapler playing right field, Wily Mo Pena playing first base, and Kevin Youkilis playing third.

We might see David Ortiz in centerfield by the time this one's over...

Yankees get Abreu, Lidle for...nothing

The $220 million team from the Bronx (2nd place with that much dough...hahaha) added a FOURTH overpaid outfielder to their roster (they now have four outfielders who make at least $12 million: Damon makes $12, Sheffield, Matsui, and Abreu all make $13 this year.) The Florida Marlins opening day roster was less than $15 million altogether, that's 25 players for the price of Hideki Matsui and Octavio Dotel.

At the same time...the rival Red Sox landed relief pitcher Bryan Corey. Before this year, he hadn't made a Major League appearance in four years (he's 33).

For the record, the Yankees haven't been in first place since April (actually I just made that up, I don't think they've been in first at all this year).
