Ah, yes. The Dallas game is over and all the fans on both sides are screaming at one another and, finally, the football season is under way. I don't know how to describe the anxiety leading up to last night's game other than to compare it to jumping out of an airplane. Commentators went on and on AND ON about McNabb and Owens and then proceeded to talk about Romo like he is a greek god. We Eagles fans sat through it, wanting nothing more than to witness Reid and his Eagles come in and show that they are back.
And show it, they did.
A few people have said that Eagles fans learned nothing last night. Those people did not watch the game. I know this, because Eagles fans learned a lot.
1.) Jackson's the real deal. He's cocky, talented and makes some bobbleheaded plays. Remind you of anyone?
2.) McNabb's back in form. He looks the best he has in years. The Rams weren't the team to necessarily prove this on, but the Cowboys, win or lose, were perfect for the display. He moved out of sacks (for the most part, I know I'll catch some flak on that one) and was light on his feet and threw with confidence against "the best team in football."
3.) Bad news, but still, we learned it: Johnson can have issues. It is always good to know your weaknesses and Jim Johnson - god of defense that he is - showed quite a few. I won't try to get into his head like some out there (I don't have that large of a brain,) but, for whatever reason, he made the calls and let us see greatness and defeat and, once again, defeat is good to know. It will let everyone come back to the board for the future games that REALLY matter.
4.) Akers can't tackle for crap.
5.) It's time to get Dawkins a new position. A lot has been said on this so that's all I'll say.
6.) Tony Kornheiser took some Spanish in high school.
Anyway, my whole point here is that we saw a great team play another great team and I think any Eagles fan would be remiss not to see that. We lost. It's the second week. It happens. Just bask in the glory that is
Donovan McNabb. We'll be okay. Regardless of what they may say.
