Is Tony Romo the best QB in the League?

Is Tony Romo the best QB in te NFL right now? Yes.

Before we get down to the cold hard facts I would like to comprise a list of reasons that makes Tony the best QB in the league.

1. Injuries-Tony has been able to stay healthy the three seasons he has been the starter. He has taken his bumps but be it a broken thumb or stitches in his chin he continues to play. This gives the Cowboys consistency at the QB position, They don't have to worry about who will play next week and don't have to worry about a dropoff with touchdowns and or yards.

2. Comeback-Yes he has had some less then beautiful plays. The Bills game last year is a perfect example of being able to fix mistakes he had made.

3. He is VERY young and has played in a little less then 2 seasons worth of games. For him to reach the level of talent he has is amazing and the fact that he gets better with each passing year gives him a HUGE cieling.

Now I know a lot of people will say it is the players around him or it's the system he is in well I have to disagree. First and foremost if it were the system then why didn't we see some kind of drop off in talent when Parcells left? Or why didn't we see a drop off this year when everyone but Phillips and Garrett left? Because it's not the system. Tony has played in two completely different systems and has excelled in both. Now I know what your thinking. If it isn't the system then it has to be the talent around him right? While I am the first person to agree that Tony has the most talented players around him that doesn't make him what he is. You see if it were the talent around him and not his own then Bledsoe should have had the same numbers... But he doesn't HE DOESN'T TOUCH ROMO'S NUMBERS! And he had Glenn, Owens and Witten all healthy at the same time.

I understand that Romo doesn't have a ring and that most feel that the ring shows a players true talent but you are wrong. That ring signifies that the best TEAM has won. There have been QB's who were less then impressive and have still made it to the superbowl and some have even won. Here is a list of the ones I remember.

1. Eli Manning

2. Rex Grossman

3. Rich Gannon

4. Brad Johnson

5. Kerry Collins

6. Trent Dilfer

7. Chris Chandler

While a QB like Dan Marino argeably the best QB to ever play the game never won a Supebowl. Now to say you have to have a ring to be an elite QB is outrageous. You are basicly putting Trent Dillfer ahead of Marino on the all time QB list. People may also attempt to argue the point that Romo has more talent then everyone else but I say this is false as well. You see there is a thing called a Salary cap, what this Salary Cap does is it allows each team to spend the same amount of money on their roster. So everyone is able to purchase an equal amount of talent with their money. If a team drafts badly or signs a player who gets injured thats on them. Every team has bust picks and injuries and is no excuse for your teams failures.

Now I will indulge you in some statistics that will prove my point that Romo has more talent then any QB in the NFL at this moment. Yes that includes Brady and Manning. For now we will look at stats alone and nothing else.

I know that a lot of arguments will be that Romo has yet to win superbowl or a playoff game and I understand that but I am not rating who has the most wins or championships but rather who has the most talent.

Player ATT COMP PCT Yards TD's Rating

Romo 337 220 65.3% 2,903 19 95.1

Romo 520 335 64.4% 4,211 36 97.4

Brady 413 264 63.9% 2,843 18 86.5

Brady 601 373 62.1% 3,764 28 85.7

Brady 527 317 60.2% 3,620 23 85.9

Brady 474 288 60.8% 3,692 28 92.6

Brady 530 334 63.0% 4,110 26 92.3

Brady 516 319 61.8% 3,529 24 87.9

Brady 578 398 68.9% 4,806 50 117.2

The only year Brady had better numbers was last year... And how many times did they have to run up the score on teams to do that? So it took Brady 7 years combined with cheating on behalf of his head coach and just out right ignorance by running up the score on teams (NO MATTER HOW FUNNY IT WAS TO SEE THEM CROSSDRESSING PIGS CRY IT WAS STILL WRONG!) Just to have Romo type numbers... And still he only had a 4.5% difference, 595 more yards, 14 more TD's then Romo and had him beat in the QB rating by 19.8 points. Considering how Dallas sat on the ball when they had a huge lead and the Pats felt the need to demoralize teams I think Romo fared pretty well against Brady.

Player ATT COMP PCT Yards TD's Rating

Romo 337 220 65.3% 2,903 19 95.1

Romo 520 335 64.4% 4,211 36 97.4

Peyton 575 326 56.7% 3,739 26 71.2

Peyton 533 331 62.1% 4,135 26 90.7

Peyton 571 357 62.5% 4,413 33 94.7

Peyton 547 343 62.7% 4,131 26 84.1

Peyton 591 392 66.3% 4,200 27 88.8

Peyton 566 379 67.0% 4,267 29 99.0

It took Manning 6 years to reach the level of play Romo started at. And even still his % was only 1.7% more then Romo's best, He only had 56 more yards then romo and came up short with TD's Romo had 7 more then Manning, His QB Rating was a tad higher by 1.6 points. For those who say Romo is not on their level you are out of your mind.

Most will say that stats don't prove anything and that Brady and Manning are better then Romo anyway. They will use twisted logic like saying that Brady and Manning win playoff games and championships. BUT! If they are better then why are their stats not better? I mean you would think that these two "GREATS" would be able to out do little old undrafted Tony Romo right? Just because the Cowboys haven't won the Championship YET as a team that has no reflection on Romo. The Playoffs reflect the team while Romo's stats along with every other QB reflects their game play and abilities. Tony has started his career with the type of numbers that it took the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning 6-7 years to reach. Not to mention Patriots are in the most pitiful division in football. And still had to cheat just to win in their division year after year. For the last decade Miami, New York and Buffalo have been disgustingly bad. On the other hand the NFC East always has multiple teams in the playoffs. Tony faces better teams every year and still has better numbers then both Manning and Brady. OH yea and as far as winning a championship I think many have forgotten how long it took the great Manning to do so. And what about Brady? He had the best Offense in NFL history yet he couldn't beat the Giants. A wildcard team...

Tony Romo is the best player in the NFL followed by Manning and then Brady. Everyone else is just average of flat out bad.

Beast from the East!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even with the ref's helping the Eagles they couldn't get it done!!!! The kings of the east THE DALLAS COWBOYS!!!!! No crying for T.O. but Jackson should be with his stupid fumble!!!!!!!!!!!!

Giants are the best team in the NFL!

They hung 41 on the RAMS! Best team in the NFL... ELI IS BACK! Blah blah blah see every philly post in the past week and just replace Eagles with Giants and McNabb with Eli. LOL and you philly fans thought you accomplished some great feat LMAO!!!!! Okay I am off to watch the Steelers Browns game.

Eagles secondary affraid of Owens, They call him one of the best ever, they don't believe any of their corners can cover him 1on1...

T.O. begs for man-to-man coverage

'That's dumb football,' Mikell replies

By SEAN McCANN a€¢ Special to The News Journal a€¢ September 13, 2008

PHILADELPHIA -- Lito Sheppard wouldn't mind if you believed that he alone had shut down Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens last December, that the Eagles gave him that ambitious assignment, and he came through like the Pro Bowl cornerback he is.

T.O. would have you know that it was a swarming effort by the entire Eagles defense that limited him to two catches and 37 yards in that 10-6 Philadelphia victory, and that the burden of coverage that he shouldered helped open the field wide for his Dallas teammates.

As usual, the truth lies somewhere in between.

"Dude, every time that I was on the outside, I noticed [Eagles safety Brian Dawkins] pretty much shaded to my side a little bit more than normal," Owens said. "As far as them shutting me down, schematically, yes, they do a lot of extra things to do that, but I know the importance of me on this offense, and I draw a lot of attention."

Asked for a response to Owens' argument that no single defender could frustrate him, Sheppard smiled.

"Look at the tape," he said. "Nobody wants to give anybody any credit."

Come Tuesday morning -- no matter what happens when the Eagles play the Cowboys at Texas Stadium Monday night -- somebody will be rushing to claim the credit and somebody else will be scrambling for excuses.

Sheppard's performance against Dallas in Week 15 last season was his "I'm still here" moment of a forgettable 2007 campaign, proof to himself and others that his Pro Bowl form was not gone forever.

"It's a lot going into that game, considering the type of year I was having up to that point," Sheppard said. "I was getting back healthy, and I wanted to go out and prove that I can play with some of the best out there. That's what that was, to tell the truth.

"Looks like I'm in the same predicament now."

His current "predicament" -- Sheppard is the team's third corner, behind All-Pro Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown -- could limit his ability to reprise that December performance. Last week against St. Louis, he was on the field for about two thirds of the Eagles' defensive plays.

Owens is going to be on the field plenty, of course.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said he's repeatedly surprised by the 34-year-old's abilities.

"It's amazing. He's an amazing guy. He's got great speed," Johnson said. "That's what, to me, is so amazing. The thing about T.O. is, he'll come over the middle, he'll catch the ball over the middle, but also, he can still get down the field fast for a guy that age."

Though Johnson won't underestimate Owens' ability to affect the game, Dallas' other important weapons -- tight end Jason Witten and running back Marion Barber -- limit the amount of resources Johnson can lend the secondary.

His job would be a lot simpler if Sheppard could, in fact, handle Owens by himself.

T.O. made it a dare this week.

"You tell that staff to put guys on me one-on-one," he said. "It won't be a shutdown."

Sheppard has been more than All-Pro against the Cowboys over his career.

In his last seven games against Dallas, Sheppard has eight interceptions, including two he returned more than 100 yards for touchdowns.

Owens has had one incredible game against the Eagles since leaving the team in a ball of flames after the 2005 season. That was his 10-catch, 174-yard, one touchdown performance at Lincoln Financial Field last year. Other than that, it's been three lackluster games and three Cowboys losses.

Still, safety Quintin Mikell said Friday, the Eagles aren't going to be goaded into taking him lightly.

"Tell him we're going to have man-to-man, zero coverage, every play. Put that in the paper, just to appease him," Mikell said with a smirk. "What does he want? He's one of the best receivers ever to play the game. We're just going to let him run down the field on anybody one-on-one?

"No. That's dumb football. We don't play dumb football up here. We might have four guys covering. You never know."

Lito on the Irvin show: We don't have a T.O. Game changer... Let me go somewhere else and do what I do.

Lito was on the Irvin show today talking about his contract and the Eagles receivers.... He said if the Eagles don't want to start him then let him go somewhere that they appreciate him. He also said they have good Wide Outs but they don't have a T.O. type guy that you game plan for.

Top Ten: Reasons to hate everything about Philly

10 Reasons to hate everything about philly.

The city is a disgusting abomination.

10. It smells of urine, homeless and nasty rotten hooker crotch... (That's the real reason McNabb is always puking on the sidelines... lol.)

9. They deface their own buildings with what they consider to be art (But it's not their fault they are not educated and are cultural inept.)

8.They believe a grease dripping sandwich lathered in cheese is a great meal. (When I was in philly I would much rather have had a nice meal at Johnny's in south philly. Great Italian food if your ever in the area, or take a ride to the poconos and check out the french manor. You can even stay overnight there. A bit pricey for most eagles fans but if you save up you could probably afford some kinda appetizer.)

7. The entire city looks like a dump, it is honestly littered with trash everywhere. (But what more would you expect from neanderthals. Didn't coco the monkey learn to use a garbage can?)

6. They just aren't all that bright. I mean have you ever tried to have a meaningful conversation with those people? When they are not speaking that ghetto slang they do nothing but curse. Especially when you say something they have no comeback for like Tony Romo is better then Donovan McNabb... They know it's true and can't argue with facts because all the stats prove this theory to be correct so they attack you with slander and insults.

5. Bad hygiene, when watching the game you see all the sweaty greasy pigs screaming and yelling and you think that it's just a small portion of Philadelphia well from someone who lived there it's all of them.

4. Bad style. Okay they go out and by these outfits like FUBU and RocaWear and think that it's the nicest thing in the world in fact they hate it when you step on their hundred dollar jordans. But little do they know they still look like hobos. Why don't you guys buy yourselves some nice suits at Giorgio Armani or better yet have a suit custom made for you. Then you can at least look like you have some class.

3. Excuses, I mean they talk soooooo much trash every year and never seem to win anything. If you show them facts that a certain player or team is better then them they have a million reasons why it isn't true but none of them mean anything.

Examples

Cowboy Fan: Romo is better then McNabb look at the stats. Eagle Fan: Well McNabb doesn't have this or that and blah blah blah. So it's our fault that your owner and GM only do enough each year to be able to compete but never actually win anything? It's not our fault you always fall into the hype when they go out and pick up one or two players that never pan out for ya.

Cowboy Fan: The Eagles were the only east team not to make the playoffs. Eagle Fan: Yea well we had injuries and it was a bad year with a lot of Blah Blah BLAH WHO CARES! Every team has injuries but if your good you fight through them.

Eagles Fan: HaHaHa you haven't won a playoff game in ten years, we have won 5 conference titles in the last ten years... Cowboy Fan: Yea but at least we won a Superbowl 5 in fact... Eagle Fan: Stop living in the Past!!!!!! Cowboy Fan: You first ;D

2. They have no morals what so ever. Throwing Snowballs at santa, Cheering injuries of other teams, Cheering injuries to their own players, throwing batteries at players the list goes on and on... You need to have more class.

1. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT LOSERS! THEIR TEAMS ARE LOSERS BECAUSE THEY ARE LOSERS!!!! YOU WILL NEVER WIN A SUPERBOWL BECAUSE YOU ARE LOSERS GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!

Did Pacman really call out the Eagles?

When asked about Mcnabb's 360 passing yards Sunday, his actual words (at least in this interview) were, "It's going to be a big challenge but you know, they played the rams, they didn't play the Dallas Cowboys so you know, we'll do what we have to do.......we're going to show up so we'll see what happens on Monday."

Looks to me like people are trying to make something out of nothing... click link for the video of the interview...

The Rams?

I just don't understand all the hype? Now don't get me wrong I am not bashing any team in anyway shape or form but the Rams are probably the worst team in the NFL. The Dolphins at least went out and made some moves getting young talent players on that team. But the Rams all they really did was got rid of one of their best WR's. They have no Oline no pass rush and a horrible secondary. The only thing this team has going for them is a RB who hasn't practiced all offseason.

Last season the Eagles didn't look to hot either and they bring in a CB and a rookie WR. They got rid of 3 players who were a pretty big part of their team in Spikes, Kearse and McDoogle. I understand that they didn't pan out the way they wanted them to but they still had talent and knew the system.

They bring in a probowl corner to replace another probowl corner and it causes nothing but grief in the locker room.

Their best Olinemen is a serious mental case and you never even know if the kid will even show up to play.

The WR that is so highly praised is a rookie who had a great game against a horrible team. Should be good for his confidence level but the kid isn't a huge playmaker.

The Eagles did improve just by getting key players healthy but Westbrook and Dawkins their two best players can't seem to stay healthy these days just like QB McNabb.

I am not trying to take anything away from the Eagles because they played a very good game but they really haven't shown any improvement from their 8-8 season last year. They could have done the same thing to the Rams last season. It's just the Rams and I think a lot of people are over reacting to this game and writing checks their team can't cash.

Just thought I would throw this out there anyway good luck next week Eagle fans this will be a true measuring stick.

PACMAN JONES IS BACK!!!!!

Goodell grants limited reinstatement to Pacman Jones

National Football League

Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Adam "Pacman" Jones on Monday that, effective immediately, he may participate in organized team activities with the Dallas Cowboys, including training camp and preseason games.

In a letter to Jones, Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 regular season will be made by Sept. 1.

Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner.

Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh Demands top 5 money or TRADE!!!!!!!

Sources say that T.J. Spoke to team officials after speaking with long time friend and team mate Chad Johnson and demanded a deal or trade by May 31st. If the Bengals don't give in he says he will not think twice about joining Chad!

He does not want to go into this season without insurance. He has told those close to him that he feels the Bengals drafted several WR's to replace him Chad and Henry. The pro bowl wide out is very angry with the organization and is leaning more towards a trade rather then a new contract. He has told several friends and relatives that they will not "do him like they did Chad".

T.J. feels he is one of the best in the game and should be paid like it. A close friend of his has said that if they want to be cheap about it they will get what they pay for. Meaning if the Bengals don't pay him like a pro bowler he will not play 100% like a pro bowler does.

When asked about the Chad situation T.J.'s long time friend said that the Bengals had an agreement with Chad when they made the deal. If he continued to play at a high level and they reached a certain point in the contract that they would have no problem redoing the deal so Chad would continue to be one of the highest paid WR's. Now that things are a little tight in Cinci the FO has decided they do not want to renegotiate.

T.J. and Chad both feel that they wouldn't have a problem taking a pay cut if they had a legit shot at winning but the Bengals front office doesn't give them those opportunities. T.J. says that QB's all over the NFL take pay cuts and renegotiate their contracts all the time to bring more weapons to a team. He feels that the Bengals either don't ask Carson or he is just to selfish and either way something needs to change in the organization in order for them to move forward. T.J. said he will not be showing up for anything. How soon he returns is up to the Bengals if at all. He says that they can still salvage one WR but Chad has 100% made up his mind!

He says that Chad has been blowing up his team mates phones warning them of the fast ones that Mike Brown will try to pull. He said that more and more Bengals are beginning to listen and to take Chad serious. The only person Chad hasn't spoken with is QB Carson Palmer.

T.J. has played message boy for Chad and Carson since the 07 season ended. T.J. says that even if Chad did come back there would be serious heat in the locker room and huddles after some of the messages he has been forced to pass along.

The Cancer is spreading!!!

The Cincinnati Bengals' high profile receiver has been more then a bit vocal about wanting a trade. Yes I am speaking about Chad Johnson. But is he the only one that wants out of Cinci? My sources say no! Chad has spoken to several of his team mates about the organization and where he stands. Sources say he told them that the front office will never do what it takes to win but just enough to keep the fans buying merchandise and tickets. Some have begun to listen to Chad's accusations.

The Bengals looker room is now split in half. Half the team is backing Lewis and the Bengals and half feel that Chad may be onto something. Chad has told several team members that Lewis has no right to question his word or call him a hypocrite. He says that the team talks loyalty but when it comes time to pay big name players they are to cheap to put a team together to contend.

Chad has told his team mates that Bengals owner Mike Brown is only willing to pony up for high profile positions like QB and WR because names like Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer will always give their fans a false sense of security. He said that if Mike would have forked out money for half the less known but very talented players they would be regulars in the playoffs. But he would rather let them walk because he cares more about his wallet then he does the team or fans so say should watch who they they is all about the money.

Several players have taken Johnson's warnings serious and I have been told at least 2 others have asked for trades since speaking with their team mate.

Saints making a push

The Saints are going to make a HUGE push to try and land a few NFC East players. Sean Peyton spent a majority of his career in the NFC East and has built his team off former East players... Well history does tend to repeat it self. Look for the Saints to make strong pushes for both Lito Shepard and Shockey!

They have already offered a 2nd round pick for Lito but it never happened they also took a shot at Shockey and was expected to pull the trigger on that come draft day but they never pulled the trigger on that trade either.

Look for one or maybe even both players to land in New Orleans in the next week or two. From what I hear Lito has told Coach Reid that he will not be attending mandatory Camps or meetings. The team is trying to keep the situation hush hush so they can get top value for him but when they didn't pull the trigger on a deal during the draft sources say Lito realized that he may have to 86 the quite talks and take his issues public. The last thing the Eagles want is another T.O. debacle so look for a trade in the next few weeks.

Shockey the Pro Bowl Tight End of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants has been advised by his agent to hold out as well.

What a character!

I just got back from a 24 hour McDonalds and as I was pulling out of the drive through I noticed that 4 people that worked there were part of a work release program as they began to pile into the county sheriff's van.

I couldn't help but think to myself how many businesses are part of a work release program? Better yet how many people employ "Rehabilitated" Criminals? I know that local super markets partake in this. So do alot of gas stations.

The reason I am so interested in this is because I hear so many people talking about character now days. "Don't take him he will make us look bad!" I'm sorry does a player represent you? I mean I can understand if it were your child because a child is a reflection of their parents but a football player? I want to take a moment and list a few things that we would have to boycott not to be hypocrite's.

1. Supermarkets

2. Gas Stations

3. Fast Food

4. Video Games

5. Movies

6. Music

Did you know 1 in 15 americans go to a Federal Prison in a life time? 1 Person is arrested every 38 seconds for purchasing or selling pot! EVERY 38 SECONDS! You meet these people everyday. You work for them, they work for you, you buy things from them and they buy things from you.

So why are these people expected to play the role of a saint? You are paying these people to be thugs! They are cheered for beating one another stupid and paid very well to do so and then you expect them to be completely normal when they leave the field? The fact of the matter is that these are people not robots and they are going to screw up.

Even if they do screw up who are they hurting? They don't represent you or your neighborhood! I mean how many players on the Packers are actually from Greenbay? Goodell wants to act holier then thou but the guy is involved in his own little cover up with spy gate... The NFL says that these players are role models and that they have to act like saints because they are in the public eye but they put them there! They report players being arrested on THEIR tv station!

So lets get this straight. The NFL wants these guys to bash one another's heads in. They pay them to act like thugs! Then expect them to be someone completely different when the game is over? They get mad because the players give teams and cities and the NFL as a whole a bad name when they get arrested even though everyone has been in the back seat of a police car and 1 in every 15 people have actually done time in their life. They aren't mad at the act but rather the fact that these things are made public and it makes them look bad but they are the ones making it public! Goodell wants the players to act one way and not be in the spot light for negative reasons but he is the one that has a Sen after him for his cover up of spy gate.

And if thats not bad enough the very people who have been arrested are the ones talking trash when a team signs a player with "questionable" character! Well I think YOU are the one with questionable character! Mike Vick KNOWS WHAT HE IS! HE KNOWS HE IS A THUG AS DOES PACMAN AND EVERY OTHER THUG IN FOOTBALL! They don't hide it! They know what they are and thats that. But you will get busted buying pot on saturday and then say you hate a football player because he is a skumbag on sunday! Give me a break.

PS: Fans are worst then the players in some cases... New York, Philly, Oakland, Ect, Ect, Ect...
