Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett is calling for an election to pay for improvements to the Ford Center. Cornett says the improvements and building a practice facility would be paid for by a one-penny sales tax. Recently, the
Seattle SuperSonics owner Clay Bennett has asked the NBA to allow the relocation of his team to Oklahoma City. A Committee made up from NBA owners is currently evaluating Oklahoma City and their request to the NBA is expected to be heard in April of 2008. It seems as if Clay Bennett has been holding a pair of aces since the purchase of the Sonics in late 2006. The train seems full steam ahead and at the rate the supersonics relocation progress is heading the city of Seattle should face these facts and move on.
