Potential Heisman winners for 08

I decided to make a list of my top 5 potential heisman trophy winners. These are basically the 5+ guys i think will give us a WOW this year;

1. Tim Tebow, Florida QB - Previous winner with 32passing TDs and 23rushing TDs in '07. Thats all i need to say. He is electric, and he can light a defense up no matter who it is.

2. Chris "Beanie" Wells, Ohio State HB - Heading into his junior year. He had 15 rushing TDs last year and 1660+ yards gained running the ball. Plus, he's on the powerhouse Ohio State, which boosts his chances even more.

3. Pat White, West Virginia QB - If only he could stay healthy. He is the most dangerous rushing QB in college football and he's getting to be a better passer each season.

4. Chase Daniel, Missouri QB - Had they beaten Oklahoma last year, he probably would have won Heisman. Passed for 4300+ yards in '07 and is a dominant runner as well. Leading the talented Tigers, he should be on your "watch out" list.

5. Graham Harrell, Texas Tech QB - Likely to lead the NCAA in passing. If he gets them to the BIg 12 bowl, his chances will bust open.

Possibilities:

Michael Crabtree

James Davis

James Laurinaitis

Jeremy Maclin

LeSean McCoy

Knowshon Moreno

Cullen Harper

NCAA 09 making a big bust

With Ncaa football 09 out in stores , the gaming world is going nuts. I bought this game for XBOX 360 the day it came out and downloaded the rosters and man , this game is the bomb. If you are a sports gamer , this is recomended. I know it is irrelevent to the sports world reallly , but just thought i would give a shoutout.

Yet another reciever off the market

D.J. Hackett signed with the Panthers last night. He was assured the No.2 position behind Steve Smith and ahead of Muhsin Muhammid on the depth chart. What does this mean for the Eagles? Well, all it means is our hopes of getting a reciever are becoming slimmer and slimmer. Unless Andy Reid has a plan to get one in a trade, there aren't much recievers left in free agency and we might just be looking at another Greg Lewis in the draft. But then again, we won't know until training camp comes around.

Philly's problems

Is our passing really the problem in Philly? In '07 the Eagles had 234.7 passing yards per game and 24 passing touchdowns. Looking back at the SuperBowl winners this past decade our numbers are above average.

2007 - Giants 197.1 passing ypg and 23 passing touchdowns

2006 - Colts 269.2 passing ypg and 31 passing touchdowns

2005 - Steelers 182.9 passing ypg and 21 passing touchdowns

2004 - Patriots 224.2 passing ypg and 29 passing touchdowns

2003 - Patriots 214.5 passing ypg and 23 passing touchdowns

2002 - Buccaneers 215.3 passing ypg and 23 passing touchdowns

2001 - Patriots 193.1 passing ypg and 21 passing touchdowns

2000 - Ravens 175.9 passing ypg and 20 passing touchdowns

The average number for all those teams is 209 passing ypg and 24 passing touchdowns. We fit perfectly in with that and I fail to see how our passing game is the problem. In my opinion (everyone has an opinion) we could use a big physical reciever, but our offensive line bad. We ranked 25th in allowed sacks in '07 allowing a whooping 49. Now, I didn't do my homework on allowed sacks but I bet if you did, that would rank 1st in this decade's Super Bowl teams. Going into '08 our defense will be atop the league . I would say we could sign a good linebacker but it seems our coaches are happy with them. So lets stray from the defense. Dan Klecko could be on his way to Philly and into a green jersey as soon as next week and if we do get him he would be a huge upgrade for plays close to the goal line and 3rd downs. With the signing of LJ and Brent Celek being a sleeper last season, our tight ends are ready to go also...if they stay healthy. One more position we should take a good look at is special teams because our starting field position is among the worst.

Lito is going somewhere and Holt isn't

According to NFL.com and philadelphiaenquirer.com, Lito is unhappy with the move of Asante Samuel and the Eagles are making offers to trade him away. Scott Linehan also said Torry Holt is staying with the Rams in '08. Check it out yourself ....

Hunt the new man to block for Westbrook ??

So , with the departure of Thomas Tapeh, who is our new fullback. We only have guys at the fullback position that have never played before. But, if we look closer at our HB position we have a secret weapon. Tony Hunt standing at 6'1" 233lbs. this guy to me looks like the next A-Train. He can bouldoze over guys and he can flat out run. I think Andy Reid's draft pick came in handy for once.

Let's stop Eagles rumours

In my opinion, one way to stop these rumours is to stop commenting on them. People are trying to bring their score up cause everyone will comment on them in anger. It would be much appreciated if we can stop them and talk about what other teams are doing also. The NFL doesnt revolve around the Eagles.

Rockets light up the Mavs last night

McGrady and the Rockets took it to the Mavs last night. McGrady had 31 points and 9 assists in a dazzling performance. Here's some highlights. Rockets are looking good for a playoff run.

NO big time reciever... but is Suggs an option for Eagles

Terrell Suggs has been having trouble negotiating a new contract with the Ravens. His agent hasn't been returning phone calls and everything seems to be going downhill. I don't mean to be a pest and start rumors but just a thought.... Does he want out? I think if we get our act together we can make a deal with the Ravens so we can let go of Howard and run the 3-4 with Suggs, Bunkley/Patterson and Cole.

Eagles fans .. don't get your hopes up

On 610 WIP today Andy Reid said the following; "I'm ok with the wide recievers right now, I don't have a problem with the wide recievers. But obviously when a great one like that( Randy Moss) can come in and help our football team, I'll be interested." Reid also said he wasn't looking to make a deal to acquire a big name guy,but he'd be interested in offers and that his tight ends could be the problem, since they didnt have big numbers in the red zone. A week ago I thought for sure we were getting a top notch reciever but after hearing this, I'm not so sure about it.

Eagles clearing up room .. release Spikes

Can you say aggresive? That is one word you can use to describe the Eagles offseason so far. Maybe this whole blog thing has Reid picking up some slack for the last few years we've missed out on it. Lets count the big moves. 1. Cut Kearse 2. Sign Asante Samuel 3. Sign Chris Clemons 4. Attempt to sign Moss 5. Cut Spikes .. and more to come hopefully. This could be a sign of things to come in the attempts of getting a playmaker on offense.

No Fitz for the Eagles

Let's get this out of the way and try to look at possible scenarios here in Philly. FITZ IS GOING TO BE A CARDINAL NEXT YEAR. As a matter of fact, Moss will be a Patriot, Williams will be a Lion and whoever else we have our hopes up for will be with their respective team. As much as I want a number one guy, lets be realistic here, none of these guys are moving. Let's go after someone that is available to us. Maybe someone named Javon Walker. I say not to expect much more moves until April's draft day.

Potential offseason moves : Eagles

I've written a list of guys the Eagles should go after this is year in free agency and the draft.

Free Agents:

HB - Jesse Chatman - If we sign him to a short term deal ( since we got Hunt) and give him about 5 carries a game, Westbrook can get some time to rest. Enough with the Buckhalter shit. He has done nothing for us and Chatman can plain old run over defenders. A big solid back that would benefit us on 3rd down. With Reid's offense 65 pass 45 run. Thats about 35 pass plays and 25 run. Westbrook will get 20 carries, but they will be quality carries, that are not risking his health.

G - Jacob Bell - How good did Tom Brady do with the Giants in his face ? Well, he lost the Super Bowl. So how much do you expect Donovan do to with the D in his face. Jake Bell is a solid, strong lineman that can easily help any offensive line. Give McNabb more time and we're looking at more " McNabb to Brown/Curtis/another player for the touchdown".

LB LeMar Marshall - Vet who could give some experience to McCoy, Gaither and Clemons so we have a solid group in the future. Also can still produce numbers and plug holes.

KR/ PR BJ Sams - What the hell, mine as well sign him. He won't be much and can be the difference in 1 or 2 games. If we had him last year we would've beat the Packers. One of our main problems is field position. We are among the bottom `0 in starting field position. I would've choosen Bryant Johnson but he's too risky.

Draft

WR James Hardy out of Indiana - Standing tall at 6'6 he is a physical receiver that can go up for the touchdown, or catch McNabb's fast balls. Doesn't drop many balls, and is a great run blocker. Would open up more room on the outside for Westbrook. Will make the occasional remarkable catch.

Other metionable names :

WR Limas Sweed - Texas

S Kenny Philips - Miami

OL Jake Long- Michigan

Top 10 stadiums in the NFL

Here is a list of the top 10 stadiums in the NFL to be a fan or just be at.

Number 1 ... Arrowhead Stadium "The Sea of Red"

- This place is a great place to tailgate. With the scent of barbecue in the air and the fans as loud as it gets, this is a hard place for away teams to play at. It's a great place to go and watch a game. Not to mention the sea of red.

Number 2 ... McAffee Stadium

Beware of the "Black Hole" for it may swallow. If I were to give you one tip, don't wear the other teams jersey, save yourself a few dollars. The weather is great here and the fans are better.

Number 3 ... Qwest Feild

Is there any need to tell you how good the fans are, they are the 12th man, enough said. One of the loudest stadiums even better, they have a good team.

Number 4 ... Lambeau Feild

With frigid temperatures biting in December and the playoffs, it is among the toughest weather conditions to play in. Too much history here not to rank it top 5.

Number 5 ... Cleveland Browns Stadium

Don't sit in the Dawg Pound unless you got a Browns jersey on. If you don't you don't belong or you will get beer thrown at you. These fans are as tough as nails, and they got a good tradition here.

Number 6 ... Soldier Field

It gets quite cold up here too, but not as bad as Green Bay. This stadium has been compared to Lambeau Field, but Lambeau has a bit more history.

Number 7 ... Lincoln Financial Field

Home of the Eagles. Fans here are comparable to Oakland, Cleveland etc.. What brings this place down is the field, it sucks. A decently new stadium, deserves a top 10 mostly because of fans, not facility.

Number 8 ... University of Phoenix Stadium

Home of SBXLII. Newest stadium in the NFL, with it's retracetable roof and ability to take out the field, this place is a state of the art stadium. Only problem is, where are the fans, pretty quiet place.

Number 9... FedEx Field

Largest capacity in the NFL with approx. 91000. Gets very loud here at times, fans are pretty pasionate, good place to tailgate.

Number 10.. Invesco Field

Last but not least, Mile High. Pfffttt.. hard to breathe up there. Especially if you're a player. Hard place to play for the visiting team. Loyal fans as seen with that guy who wears the barrel (?) .

So... there it is.. my opinion of the top 10 stadiums. Tell me what you think and sometime in the near future I will write a bottom 10. Peace out.
