''HEY SATAN! Hold The Ice Water! ''

It seems The Tigers of Clemson couldn't close the deal in ''THE HOUSE THAT DEAN BUILT!'' Falling to an NCAA record 0-53 vs. The University of North Carolina in a double overtime nail biter 103-93. For what it's worth, it was a hell of a game. Oliver Pernell and his kids gave The Heels a heck of a time through the first 40 minutes, but appeared to run out of gas as well as getting into foul trouble towards the end lead to their undoing! Ty please get well soon! lol!

Good Call Reggie.

After sevral weeks of pondering a return to the Hardwood for a 19th season in his quest for the ''Holy Grail'', It looks like Reggie Miller will continue to enjoy retirement. I personally think it's a good call. But that's just me of course.

Vick to plead Guilty

Well it looks like Michael Vick has had a change of heart. Instead of trying to protect his name sake, It looks like he has waved the white flag and copped a plea. STAY TUNED...

Divide and Conquer.

It's been awhile since my last post, but even longer since The U.S Men's Basketball team has had Olympic gold. Okay, so maybe i shouldn't have gone down that road..Or maybe i should. It has been a humbling three and a half years for team USA as far as continuing ''OUR REIGN'' of Hoops supremacy on the world. The fact is, the world has caught up and is no longer scared anymore. Now we are the hunter as opposed on being the hunted like we once we're. I think that this team with the Veteran tutelage of Kidd and some quasi leadership from Bryant and the lasting experience from last summer's games, has left a lasting impression on this years team. Not only from the players, but the coaching staff as well. They say experience is one of Life's great teacher's. Let's hope this time around, we are doing the teaching.

''The Morning After.''

Well, i'm sure everyone has some kind of reaction to Last night's historic night. We all knew that Henry wasn't going to hold on to it forever. I didn't get to see it live due to the ''blackout'' on Espn. I'm assuming the reason for this was that it had a lot to do with the whole Cable/ Satellite deal that MLB has with it's affiliates to purchase the season package.( THANKS ABC and Disney!) at any rate, last night will always stand out as a part of ''World History.'' I think that one of the highlights from last night's event was the message from Henry Aaron. Now it's pretty much documented on how he has felt about this whole event. However, he chose to set that aside and take the ambassador type approach and congratulate Bonds for his achievement. I believe in a lot of ways he was a bit hurt. Not because the record was broken, but because of the sacrifices he made prior to even becoming the Home Run King. The challenges he endured to even step step foot on a field to get even ONE HIT more so than 755 round trippers. That record meant much to Aaron, but the integrity of the sport means MUCH MORE than any record that's left. Nevertheless, the torched was passed whether we think it was done voluntarily or not. Has always, STAY TUNED...

CON..SPIRACY?!

By a show of hands, does anyone else other than me thinks it's a little strange that the Nats purposely aren't pitching it to Bonds knowing that Selig isn't/wasn't there?! Yet another ''black eye'' to one of America's favorite pastimes. What a shame!

''Bono sung it best!''

''With or with out you" was a good song by U2 back in the day. i enjoyed it quite nice at that. Your probably wondering ''What the h@LL am i talking about?'' Well i just came across one of the post here on good ol' YB and in detail it had something about Maddux isn't gonna pitch to Barry not if he can help it not in those words ''yadda yadda blah blah'' who gives a rip? Well Greg listen up buddy roe,( as we say here in the south.) ''With or without you'' pitching to Barry L. Bonds, he is gonna pass AARON whether you pitch to him or not. By you taking this route, is very immature and unprofessional as well as disappointing to your peers, media, and fans alike. But mind you of this Greg F. Maddux, we will have a new '' HOME RUN KING'' ''With or... well you know....

THE NATIVES ARE GETTING RESTLESS!

HUH...... SO! YB familia, Anybody else besides ''yours truly'' tired of being sick and tired about'' when is Barry gonna do this?'' ''Is A-Rod ever gonna do that?'' ''Is Glavine gonna get 300?'' '' Are we gonna take a guilty/ not guilty office pool on Michael Vick?'' Personally, i want all the above to be over with BY THIS WEEKEND! ( Well, The Vick situation might take a bit longer however.) SO, ''WHADDAYATHINK?''

Not even close and no cigar in sight!

Well, last night's ''potentially historic night'' brought nothing but the annoying sound of crickets for Bonds, A-Rod, and Glavine. Bonds went 0-2 with guess what? anybody? TWO WALKS! Surprise, Surprise, Suprise! The Yanks crush eight round trippers lead by Matsui's two in a 16-3 rout of the CWS, in which NONE came from Rodriguez! And lastly Tom Glavine still hung on 299 has he gets the no decision in a 4-2 loss to '' the beer people''. Well, i guess the sun will come out tomorrow... Stay tuned....

Roberts to undergo surgey for Breast Cancer

I know this story is a bit old, but i kind of felt obligated in a sense to write something about it. Former Espn/ABC sports alumn and current ''GOOD MORNING AMERICA!'' Co- anchor Robin Roberts announced on this morning's telecast that she has Breast Cancer. Appearently Roberts knew for a short while after the GMA tribute segment of late movie critic Joel Siegel who passed away this June due to complications of colon cancer. She along with the support of co- anchor Diane Sawyer by her side, announced to the millions of viewers of her prognosis. Now i realize that here in the Yard we can talk about anything. I chose to speak on this not because i did/still do respect Robin for all her contributions she has made to the sports world as an athlete and acclaimed journalist, but for being brave enough to let the world now of her status. She stated on today's broadcast:'' Once you are diagnosed, you are a survivor!'' I guess this means in retrospect to fight the good fight and not to give up all together. There are hundreds of thousands of ''fighters'' like Robin out there who have survived and who have unfortunately lost their fight to the monster called Cancer. My aunt has been Cancer free ten years and her husband is fighting right now to win his battle. Roberts will undergo surgery on friday to catch the cancer which is in its early stage right now. I know that maybe some of you don't care for all this that i'm writing and some of you might a bit. But i just kind of felt that i had to speak upon this not because it is some how sports related to some extent, but to make and cause awareness. So with this in mind, i would like to wish all the ''fighters'' across the world who are fighting to be strong and stay positive and to pray for the loved ones and the family/friends who lost their fight. Thanks. PEACE.
