Networks drop ball on North Carolina-Miami baseball matchup

When second-ranked North Carolina travels to Coral Gables, FL, to visit top-ranked Miami for a three game set, college baseball fans will be in for a real treat. That is, if they actually get to watch it. All three games will be televised. Regionally. That's right. Regionally. As in not nationally. Welcome to college baseball. The Rodney Dangerfield of Division I athletics.

Diamonds and gridirons and hoops, oh 'Heels!

It's been a busy four days in Blue Heaven.

Tyler's back, the baseball team took two of three from the 'Noles and two 'Heels were selected in the NFL Draft. It could probably be better, but for April, it feels pretty good to be a Tar Heel.

UNC: Hansbrough to stay a 'Heel!

To the delight of Blue Heaven, and presumably Roy Williams, college basketball's reigning player of the year will have one last dance.

Tyler Hansbrough has announced that he has decided not to enter the NBA Draft.

UNC: Life Without Tyler? AND Danny?

DraftExpress reported on April 22nd that North Carolina juniors Tyler Hansbrough and Danny Green may test NBA draft waters without hiring an agent.

The website also stated that Ty Lawson will stay a Tar Heel for at least one more year.

Let's nix the ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Kevlar, anyone?

The matchups for the ACC/Big Ten challenge were announced on Tax Day this past week. North Carolina will travel to Motown on December 3, 2008, to play the Michigan State Spartans. Ah, there's nothing quite like Detroit in December. The snow. The decorative lights. The hail of bullets…

Costas, Reilly: don't blog with me

Please tell me which one of you sits on the couch in his mother's basement to work on your blog. Seriously. Raise your hand. Or type me a shout-out.

Dude, you are so ruining it for the rest of us.

Did Roy Williams "sticker" it to his team Monday?

Just a question for some of you college hoops fans out there, especially the Carolina crowd. I thought I'd let the emotion of Saturday's loss and the National Championship mellow a bit. So I'm asking now.

What did you think of Roy's Jayhawk sticker?

Vitale is a PTP'er, baby!

I just wanted to highlight some news all college hoops fans should be interested in: Dick Vitale was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. To me, this is an N.C.'er. Dickie V is one of those guys you either love or hate. Well, I love him. He's great for college basketball.

UNC: The Mourning, After

Two hours and fifteen minutes after it started, you sit and you watch a great basketball team, deserving of victory, walk off the court to prepare for one last game. You're happy for them. Sort of. They're just college kids. They certainly earned it. And then you see your boys. And you begin to ache.

'Heels stomped by Jayhawks; questions abound for next year

Rock. Shock. Jayhawk. Roy, you're definitely not in Kansas anymore. Kansas opened up a 40-12 lead on tourney favorite North Carolina in the first half, using a dizzying display of efficient offense and stellar defense and cruised to an easy 84-66 victory to advance to Monday's National Championship and a date with Memphis.

North Carolina-Kansas: A final (four) glance

Unless you've been in a cave (or actually used your noggin and simply ignored the hub-bub), you may have missed the mainstream media's take on Saturday's Final Four meeting between basketball superpowers North Carolina and Kansas.

Carolina Final Four Memories, Part One

In the days leading up to the 2008 team's Saturday National Semifinal date with Kansas, I would like to further fan the Heels' Final Four flame by taking some time to reflect on Carolina's eight Final Four teams that I've been privileged to experience during my "fantime." They are as follows: 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2005 and, of course, 2008. I'm not going to rank these teamsâ€"I love them too muchâ€"however, if I were on trial and under oath, I would have to confess that the 1993 team is my favorite group of Tar Heels ever.

Hansbrough wills North Carolina to San Antonio

Carolina's sensational junior forward simply willed North Carolina to victory in Charlotte's East Regional Final on Saturday. His 28-point, 13-rebound effort punched the 'Heels a ticket to the 2008 Final Four in San Antonio. It was a tremendous big-game performance by a tremendous big-game performer.

Elite 8 preview: Tar Heels and Cardinals set to rumble in Charlotte

In the past 24 hours we've learned a couple of important truths about home court advantage as it pertains to the Carolina-Louisville match-up on tonight: a) North Carolina coach Roy Williams does not think his Tar Heel team has a home court advantage in tonight's East Regional Final, and b) Louisville coach Rick Pitino does not appreciate the fact that Roy Williams does not think his Tar Heel team has a home court advantage in tonight's East Regional.

Carolina Cages Cougars

North Carolina rode Danny Green in the first half and Tyler Hanbrough in the second en route to a surprising 68-47 blowout victory over Washington State.
