Gay groups are up in arms in Brazil after a judge basically came out and said that gays don't belong in pro soccer. Everything hit the fan when a pro player was rumoured to be homosexual.

If soccer's ever going to give the other major sports a run for the money in North America, it's going to have to be now, while it's at its peak in both popularity and publicity. The sport is in the headlines daily because of David Beckham, and I don't mean just the sports pages, but all sections of the newspapers from show business and entertainment to fashion.
However, if Beckham doesn't get his ass out there and play soon, I'm afraid fans are going to get tired of waiting, and paying high prices for a no show and just say "forget it" to the sport. The daily stories on Beckham with their will he or won't he play headlines are starting to wear thin and it reminds me a bit of the boy who cried wolf. Pretty soon the fans just won't care anymore if he plays or not.
Now I sympathize with athletes who are genuinely injured, but Beckham's got a slightly swollen ankle for Christ sake, it's not like he's got a broken leg or anything serious enough to stop him from running. Soccer players are quickly overtaking baseball players as the biggest pansies out there. They've signed their contracts, are getting paid well and don't really care if they play or not.
I was at the game in Toronto on Sunday and thousands of kids packed the stadium to see Beckham play. Okay, I understand if he's injured he can't play, but you'd think the twats who are running MLS could have at least took Beckham out to center field before or after the game to please the ticket buyers as these are the people who ultimately say if this league makes it or breaks it. All I know is that if this guy doesn't lace up his boots pretty soon, there's going to be a lot of jaded fans out there and that isn't going to do the sport any good at all on this continent.

An English soccer player was thrown off of Singapore's Geylang United team for swearing in the club's offices. The player, Kim Grant, defended himself by saying it's part of his British culture. He's fucking right it's part of our culture.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I've been watching soccer since I was about four years old. I'm even one of the few who saw England actually win the World Cup back in 1966 at Wembley. I've seen some exceptional English players over the years such as Bobby Moore, Gary Lineker, Paul Gascgoine, Michael Owen, Bobby Charlton, and Gordon Banks, etc. And let me tell you, David Beckham has a talent that most players today can only dream of. Even though Beckham plays a very simple game, he can pick out team mates anywhere on the pitch and hit them with pinpoint passes. For some reason in the 21st Century, not many players can do this. All Beckham has done over the past few days is set up three of England's four goals and turned the country back on to soccer again. Now I don't have any problem with England's manager Steve McLaren wanting to take the captaincy from Beckham, but to axe him from the team completely just goes to show what a complete waste of time and money this dick is as a manager. In fact, the way Beckham has performed over the past two games should guarantee McLaren's firing from his position immediately. How the fuck you can leave one of the world's best offensive players out of the squad for almost a year while you're trying to qualify for a major tournament is beyond me. It just goes to show how useless a manager McLaren really is.

I'll tell ya fucking something. One of the stupidest moves ever in NHL history was signing this prat to a contract for 10 years, It's a suicidal move and you must be a complete moron to offer the deal in the first place. You're stuck with Yashin as you can't ever trade him for the money he's making. But it's even stupider buying him out at this point. It's still costing the team $2.2 million on the salary cap each year, so you're not saving a significant amount of money. You're paying this guy over $4 million a year over the next four years not to play for you for fux sake? You can pay me a measly hundred grand and I won't play for your fucking useless team either. What a joke. If I'm paying some prick $4million a year, you can fucking bet I'm going to make the bastard earn it. I don't give a shit if he's on the fourth line or licking the condensation off of the dressing room mirrors, he's fucking working for his money. And by the way, by scoring an average of about a point per game, he's still better than about 15 of the other players on the Islanders anyway. Twats!

After playing like a bunch of underachieving wankers over the last several months, England has finally recalled former captain David Beckham back into the squad.

Unfortunately, it was just another day of typical violence in Toronto, as the whole losing team chased and battered the lone referee in a high school soccer game before police arrived.

The BMO Field in Toronto, brand new home to the Toronto FC of the MLS, is starting to show structural damage already after only being open for a few weeks. This really comes as no surprise as the stadium seemed to be slapped up very quickly with concrete and plastic with a poorly designed infrastructure.

In a move that's long overdue. Michel Platini, the new head of UEFA, is planning on adding end zone referees behind each goal to keep an eye on all of the garbage taking place in the penalty areas on corners and free kicks. It's about time!
