With the 10th pick, the Patriots picked
Jerod Mayo (6-2/230) from the University of Tennessee. Mayo combines athletecism with good football instincts, and should be able to start for a starting job inside right away. He has shown fluidness in coverage that will be a welcome addition to the linebacking corps. He struggles at times to fight off guards in the running game, but
Vince Wilfork should be able to protect him. He can and will deliver the big hit, as well as being a very reliable tackler.
