Reggie Bush was Impressive, but Saints still lose to Vikings

Reggie Bush was impressive by returning two punt returns for touchdowns in the Saints loss to the Vikings. However, it may have been another poor coaching decision by Sean Payton that cost the Saints the win.

The Trojan Leap: 1 Yard=Marcus Allen=Reggie Bush

Sean Payton should allow Reggie Bush to utilize the "Trojan Leap" patented by fellow USC Alum Marcus Allen on short yardage plays to gain a Touchdown or first down.

Reggie Bush to marry Kim Kardashian

New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush told nfl.com senior writer Thomas George that he is ready to marry his reality television star girlfriend Kim Kardashian and looks forward to fathering children with her.

Saints Old Problems Rise Again in Loss to Redskins

The New Orleans Saints old problems rise again in loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Poor defensive back play, lack of a running game, turnovers, and lack of speed in the secondary are major issues that needed to be addressed by the Saints.

Reggie's Heroics Crushes the Bucs

Reggie is the Hero! For the second time in three years, since Reggie's first NFL TD, he had a 4th quarter TD to lift the Saints over the Bucs. Bush finished the day with 112 yards on 8 receptions and 51 yards rushing and led New Orleans to a 24-20 win.

NFC South: Change vs. The Same

The political war between Barack Obama and John McCain eerily resemble the crucial battle we will witness this fall in the NFC South. On Sunday, the Saints vs. Bucs match will commence the challenge for the NFC South Championship crown. This could be considered the most underrated contest within the NFC. In one corner of the Gulf Coast you have the Saints, which must rebound from their 2007 disappointments. Deep in the the region's other corner are the Bucs. They are a team that must find a way to break free from the looming NFC South Champions' jinx. Winning the NFC South has been like a death sentence that has haunted its Champion since the division's inception.

Galloway and Garcia are in the latter stage of their careers. Brees, McAllister, Bush, Smith and Colston must deliver to Saints fans the Lombardi trophy that has eluded them these 40+ years of existence. Youth vs. Experience, Dreams vs. a Glimmer of Hope, Change vs. the Same. The NFC East may have its stars in Dallas, Philly, Washington and New York, but the NFC South will provide the real entertainment to watch in the NFC for the 2008 season.

P.S. Like Palin, the Panthers are ready to steal these candidates' spotlight. The Falcons are like Romney, Paul and Clinton - just stay home and we'll see you next season.

Reggie gets a new deal with the Saints

Scout.com has learned that the New Orleans Saints and running back Reggie Bush quietly renegotiated his contract in early June. The team included a $4 million signing bonus as part of the new deal, which runs through 2011, and a $4.5 million roster bonus for the 2009 season.

Bush had four years remaining on his original deal with $10.25 million in salary and $10 million in prorated bonus money scheduled spread out through 2011. But he also had $20 million dollars of "Not Likely to Be Earned" bonuses at a rate of $5 million per year that didn't count against the Saints' cap unless he reached those incentives.

Under his new deal, which also runs through 2011, Bush will see practically all of that money as long as he plays out his contract.

While his salary stays the same in 2008, he'll see a marginal increase in 2009 ($2.2 million to $2.6 million) before making a huge jump from $2.9 million to $8.0 million in 2010. And in 2011, he will receive $11.8 million in salary instead of the $3.575 million that was in his original contract. In addition to the $4 million signing bonus, which adds an extra million dollars to the Saints cap hit for each of the remaining four years, Bush will still have the opportunity to earn $1.5 million in NLTBE bonuses. And he can earn $800,000 more in 2011. But all other NLTBE bonuses have been eliminated.

Instead, the team has put up $1.5 million in "Likely to be Earned Bonus" money for both the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and another $700,000 in 2011. All of that money hits the cap immediately when the contract year begins since it's assumed that the player will reach those goals.

Saints Note: Thank You Bruce Allen

Saints fans have to applaud Bruce Allen's stubbornness on the Favre trade. Allen was "unwilling" to unload a 3rd round pick and a player for the one player that could have wreaked havoc for the Saints and Panthers. Smart move? Of course time will tell, but I don't think so.

Why? Tampa Bay won the NFC South last year against the inconsistencies of the Saints and Panthers. This year the Bucs would have needed an additional edge to create separation from their NFC South rivals, i.e., Brett Favre. The reason is that the Bucs will now face an improved Saints Defense and the Panthers will welcome back Jake Delhomme.

Favre as their Quarterback could have provided the deep threat that had the Saints' secondary dizzy last year. Fortunately for New Orleans, the defensive line will create more pressure on their opponents QB's in 2008. Thus creating problems for Garcia. I just don't see Jeff Garcia being able to stand back and pick them apart again for two games with the new Saints D-Line. Favre would have been a wiser QB choice for the Bucs. No offense Jeff, it's just a fact. A Favre-Galloway connection would have created too many problems for the Saints handle.

So, here's to you Bruce Allen. You definitely know the value of a Super Bowl versus a 3rd round pick. Thank You for making the best choice for the Bucs Saintsa€¦and NFC South.

Deuce Scare deserves a Backup Plan

The Saints need to sign Shaun Alexander ASAP! Lamont Jordan believed that New England had a better opportunity to win a Super Bowl than the Saints. I love Deuce, but the reality is, you always need a backup plan in the NFL. The Saints should view it as an insurance policy, "in case of" something goes wrong versus "Deuce will be fine."

Deuce looks good as Saints Training Camp opens

Deuce looked really good at the start of the Saints training camp on today. He has lost weight and has some on his speed back after the ACL injury in the Tennessee game.

Saints will meet "St. Jeremy's Fire" in Jackson, Miss. today

St. Jeremy will meet with the media for the first time Thursday after the Saints' first practice at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. I believe that he will find the media down South little more subdued than in New York.

As most first dates, the meeting may be a little akward, but I'm sure the Saints and Shockey are going to blend very well together. I will be interested how soon he and Drew Brees will start to connect. Also, the most important aspect of his arrival, is to observe his impact on Reggie Bush and Marques Colston's productivity.

Fantasy Fooballers are should definitely consider drafring Shockey, Brees, Colston and Bush. Remember, the Saint threw the ball more than anyone in the NFL last year. I don't believe this year will be any different.

Shockey, who turns 28 next month, has four years remaining on his contract, which is one of the most attractive aspects of the deal for the Saints. The Giants already footed the bill for Shockey's signing bonus when he signed a five-year extension worth $26 million in 2005.

NFL QB Castaways and Aaron Brooks

Question: How does Aaron Brooks, Daunte Culpepper and Byron Leftwich all go without an NFL QB job when the league has a Brady Croyle (Kansas City), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay), or an Alex Smith in San Francisco with QB jobs. None of these guys, probably Smith has, has fared well in the NFL. Especially Brady Croyle! Let's face facts, Aaron's Leadership qualities (lack of) and outspokenness were his downfalls. Daunte Culpepper's injury and Sex Boat scandal his. And, Letwich is too injury prone.

However, if you can recycle Brunell and Testerverde, why not give these "once productive" NFL QB's a chance? At least as a backup! Each of these QB's have thrown over 20 Touchdowns in multiple seasons. Culpepper is arguably the best of this group.

What's really behind the "blackballing"? Is it because they are "Black" and the NFL GM's can't figure them into the programs? Or, can't they figure out how they can "Ball"?

Here's excerpts from the NOLA.com's article:

Aaron Brooks keeps a low profile these days. He spends his mornings working out, fine-tuning his physique, perfecting his three- and five-step drops, sharpening his rifle-like right arm. He's aware it might be all for naught.

"Blackballed might be too strong a word, " said ESPN analyst Shaun King, a former Tulane and NFL quarterback. "But if you really are objective, the facts point to it must be something. It's outside of normal when you look at the way that some of the quarterbacks are recycled. If you look at the rosters right now a€" and I don't want to call specific guys' names, but if you look at the rosters in the National Football League and then you ask yourself based on accomplishment alone a€" how is an Aaron Brooks or a Daunte Culpepper or a Byron Leftwich or a Shaun King, for that matter, not somewhere?"

St. Jeremy: Saints land Shockey

The New Orleans Saints have just served notice to the NFC. A potent offense just got more explosive. The Giants trade of Shockey will have a rippling effect in the NFC, if not the NFL.

Last year when Deuce was down and Reggie was the featured running back, the opponents linebackers knew who would most likely get the ball, Reggie. Most critics fail to mention the lack of a midfield presence in the Saints offense. With this trade, defenses will drastically change their schemes against the Saints. Not only will you have to deal with Reggie and Shockey, let's not forget about Colston. The tables have turned. This could be one of those landmark trades that would propel the Saints to the Super Bowl.

Reggie Bush on NFL Total Access

Reggie Bush visited the set of NFL Total Access and was interviewed by former Denver RB Terrell Davis. Terrell questioned Reggie on his outlook for the season, his knee, offseason training, his thoughts on how the Saints utilize his skills, his favorite plays, and his goals as an NFL player.

I think Reggie finally understood the importance of being with his teammates and coaches this offseason. He also said that he prefers to run inside and not outside like most people believe of his running skills.

Reggie handled himself very well.
