Weekend Fight Schedule-Ricky Hatton is back-Tito Ortiz is Out-Kimbo Slice countdown has begun

What UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLZ?

How y'all livin' today? Beautiful 70 degree day in the northeast and your Boy Larry Lump got a half day at his income generating job before the long Memorial Lump Weekend.

OK so some decent action this weekend in the fight game.

First thing to yap about is Ricky Hatton is back in his first fight since losing to Floyd Mayweather. Even better is that it's being shown on basic cable, the Vs. Network. Ricky should take care of business in front of his hometown, but who does he fight next? Unfortunately it's probably going to be Paulie Malingnaggi who is fighting on the under card. Paulie has zero power so the excitement factor is just not there for me.

In regards to MMA, UFC 84 Ill Will (guess they are running out of tag lines) takes place Saturday night. This will be the last UFC fight for Tito Ortiz who's well documented battle with UFC president Dana White has reached the point of no return. Tito has been fading as a fighter (but he does get to tap Jenna Jamison on a daily basis) so it's no real loss for the UFC.

So only about a week left until Kimbo Slice makes his prime time debut on CBS. He is fighting another cupcake but of course everyone is going to watch and see what the hype is all about. Is Kimbo the Mike Tyson of the new millennium? Seems that way so far.

Here is your weekend schedule. Enjoy:

Boxing

TODAY - at Lincoln, Rhode Island (ESPN2) - 10 rounds, cruiserweights: Aaron Williams (17-0-1, 12 KOs) vs.

Jose Luis Herrera (15-4, 15 KOs); 8 rounds, heavyweights: Jason Estrada (12-1, 2 KOs) vs. Derek Bryant (20-4-1, 17 KOs).

SATURDAY - at Newcastle, Australia - 11 rounds, light welterweights: Sirimongkol Singwancha (58-2, 33 KOs)

vs. Chad Bennett (21-2-3, 14 KOs).

SATURDAY - at Hannover, Germany - 12 rounds, cruiserweights: Dariusz Michalczewski (48-2, 28 KOs)

vs. Sven Ottke (34-0, 6 KOs).

SATURDAY - at Manchester, England (Versus) - 12 rounds, light welterweights: Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31 KOs) vs. Juan Lazcano (37-4-1, 27 KOs); 12 rounds, IBF junior welterweight title: Paul Malingnaggi (24-1, 5 KOs)

vs. Lovemore N'dou (46-9-1, 31 KOs); 12 rounds, welterweights: Matthew Hatton (33-3-1, 13 KOs) vs. Craig Watson (12-2, 4 KOs).

Classic Lump Wednesday-Tribute to a Legend who should hang up the gloves

Click on article link for video.

Beautiful day in sunny CT. So this week's classic lump is in tribute to Bernard Hopkins. The man has nothing left to prove, he was a middleweight champ for 10 friggin years! Sadly he probably won't shut it down, but hopefully his does. Let's be honest, he might even win a few more but his fights are never going to be on PPV again, his style is just so not fan friendly. One punch, clinch, one punch, clinch, and he really does not knock anyone out.

However no one can argue about his boxing reign. Just check it out here for yourself.

Before I get to the video highlight I wanted to let you know about some great Amateur boxing coming up to Bridgeport, CT on May 9th, the USA Boxing Olympic Invitational. I saw some fights up there last year and Harbor Yard is a great place to see dukes.

OK so here we go. This punch doesn't look like much but it was a perfectly placed liver shot. Your mind wants to get up off the canvas but your legs have absolutely no interest. You can totally see the frustration in De La Hoya's eyes.
