In case you haven't heard when the N.Y. Jets signed Brett Farve the mayor of New York Mr. Bloomberg had dipped into the N.Y.C. budget and gave Farve a Metro card with a whole $ 2.00 on it . That's pretty funny considering the Metro card is only valid in N.Y. Metro area and the Jets play in New Jersey , He could have at least sprung for a $ 20.00 Starbucks gift card . Now if Mats signs with the Rangers does he get the same treatment , This type of thing could deter future signings of other star Athletes to N.Y. , Someone needs to talk to Mike about this . NO MORE METRO CARDS ! Well , I guess its not that bad its only the thought that counts , HOPEFULLY Mats Sundin gets his Metro card , He will at least be able to use his . Many people think this can't happen , I say this don't be surprised when it does . This guy fits just as I felt Farve fit with the Jets . Everyone knows that the potential for an athlete to earn a lot of money is in N.Y.

the biggest endorsement deals happen in N.Y. Sundin could earn way more money on BROADWAY then in Vancouver , Mess came back for a reason . There is no place better to play hockey then in the GARDEN period .

Please no comments on salary issues . There are plenty of guys who could go to make room for Sundin as well as return the rangers quality draft picks for the future .

Call me CRAZY , this is just an idea , my feelings on Chris Drury are as follows ,Chris is a great player but not 7+ million dollars per year great . Lets be realistic his career best was 69 points and that was with buffalo two years ago . The N.Y.R. could trade this guy for a nice 1st. round draft pick maybe more .The deal would clear a ton of salary for Sundin for 1 year who would bring even more veteran leadership to the club as well as a presence in front of the net . Now I know everyone wants the team to get younger and ultimately that's the goal but , here's the problem we don't know if our young talent is ready to join the club this year even if they are , who is a better mentor then Sundin , We all know he could contribute at least 70 points . If the rangers could pick him up for 7-8 million plus an endorsement deal why not ? I think Sundin would put up great numbers on this power play alone . This deal could also give the NYR potential to be in the Lecavalier Sweepstakes . If the rangers could add Lecavalier next season we could potentially be building towards a Stanley Cup team . Maybe I'm way off but this is just a thought and besides with the Redwings adding Hossa ,I feel it's not happening this year for the Rangers . I really want to hear what you guys think !

Yes, it's true Brett's Farve is now the newest member of the N.Y. JETS , The 38 year old veteran Q.B. goes from Green Bay to GANG GREEN , as I had reported in a previous article this transaction makes all the sense in the world for the Jets . What Jet fan doesn't want a Farve Jets jersey anyway ? This move is one of the best P.R. moves since the Rangers got Gretzky . Besides it actually gives the Jets a legit chance to make the Playoffs . After spending 16 years on one team there's only one place for a guy of his stature to end his career . If the N.Y. Jets win over 10 games this year the ownership in Green bay will not hear the end of it . there is potential for this to become the biggest disaster in any franchises history . I'm sure that Brett's gonna be playing his heart out in NEW YORK he ain't gonna want to get booed here and he's not gonna this is a way out of the cellar for the Jets . Way to go Jets ! The Mets may be considered the losers of the deadline but , the options were really not there and realistically Omar understands the team they have this year is not gonna get it done . If they were one big piece away then maybe you mortgage the future. This team has far to many question marks and unfortunately the players that were supposed to be key factors in the success of this team are on the D.L. This year has not favored the Mets at all .

With the Mets shuffling players & coaches all year long they really have not had any time to become a TEAM . I feel Omar has made the proper choice to stand pat and see what he's got in the farms. Bringing up the young guys can prove to be more beneficial then renting a player for two months .

This is the burning Question . The letter " C " carries a major responsibility . Not many players are capable of handiling the role of captain , especially in NY considering we had THE best captain in hockey history lead our team to a Stanley Cup victory . Yes Messier was the Ultimate captain in team history but that was then !

Now Tom Renney will have to look at the current players on his roster and choose . This may involve damaging some Ego's . This daunting task is very crucial in the development of chemistry on the ice as well as in the locker room . As the roster stands right now I feel Drury may be the correct choice for the " C " , But I do feel this is going to be a trial and error type process . Many people are going to probably say it should go to Naslund but I cant see a first year guy becoming a team's captain , I do think Gomer is also a good fit for the job . Whoever gets the high honor of wearing the " C " needs to step up and take charge . We need a vocal leader this year more than anything . If Shanny comes back to Broadway on a 1 year deal does he get it ? Hum , Lots of Q's that need A's . Well I think we may have some up and coming Captains on our roster . Hey Dubby maybe next year . Many rumors have circulated about this stud from Russia Who has been drafted surprisingly 17th. overall by The Rangers in the 2007 entry draft . This was very exciting because Alexei was considered by many a top 5 Prospect , Although there was a lot of issues to take into account when drafting a player who is overseas and under contract . First and foremost he is Under contract for 1 more year in which he already said officially he will play . He may also be playing on the same line as one of his Idols ( JAGR ) who has signed a 3 year deal with Omsk ( KHL ) . This entire situation does not look positive for the RANGERS . At the draft he did not really look happy , I feel that he really didn't even want to be there and this was just a ploy to create buzz within their own league ( KHL ) and basically keep his options opened . Unfortunately we all know this kid is going to be offered a boat load of cash and will be treated like royalty in a place that he is comfortable As well as having his childhood idol as a line mate . This new Russian League ( KHL ) is gonna do what ever it takes to retain this kid . Sorry for playing devil advocate but I'm just looking at this situation realistically . What it comes down to is the old adage , If it looks to good to be true it probably is ! I'm not saying I'm positive that this is gonna play out like this and as a RANGERS fan I really hope I'm wrong .

The Boston Red Sox are not gonna part with their stud outfielder, unless they are completely blown away. If a deal is reached with any team it will probably be a deal that benefits the sox more than the team that's involved . The sox are not gonna accept minor league players for Manny that's a FACT . Is this the future of the NHL ? Well many things lead me to believe this might be the direction the NHL is heading . Is there an international Cup in our future of hockey ? Why are we promoting our league in Europe ?

If the brain trust wants to broaden the horizons of our league lets play these games in our Country U.S.A., Today the N.Y. RANGERS announced that they will be playing there last two pre- season games in Switzerland , First game against SC BERN , the final pre-season game against Magnitogorsk of the KHL . Then to top it off The N.Y. RANGERS open up their season in Prague . The NHL is making a big mistake .

I know that they don't feel that this sport can compete with Football or Basketball but , They shouldn't sell our sport overseas I mean if the games were being played in the U.S. this idea would be border line brilliant , but guess what ? there NOT, Although the NHL employs many European players the NHL is still OUR game (U.S./ Canada) It needs to be promoted better in the U.S. The Decision makers of the NHL in my view are committing HOCKEY HOMICIDE ! Killing this sport which has a lot to offer it's FANS . One day we may all see the NHL playing for the " International Cup " . Hopefully when that day comes we will still have enough talent remaining in the NHL to compete for it . Would the Hockey Gods Approve ? I sure DONT !

Omar Minaya has recently Promoted Tatis as an everyday left fielder . He has also Promoted Niese to AAA club . He is still insisting he will stand pat , but I'm not buying it , Manny has been in his heart for quite sometime . Like a first love , I believe Minaya is still chasing Manny . When the smoke screen clears and the dead line comes to a close , Will Minaya have his heart broken again ? The supposed Untouchables the Mets have in their system , are very touchable when it comes to Manny . This trade would give the Mets that bat in the line up that changes games . All these deceptive moves before the dead line lead me to believe the Mets are setting a trap to lower the asking price of certain players . By upgrading Niese this adds value to him and I feel he will be a piece of this deal that will get it done . Although Manny is a 10 - 5 Veteran player it will all come down to his approval .

Will Manny be wearing a METS jersey when Omar kisses him at the alter or, Will Manny break his heart yet again ? Stay Tuned !

Is it just me , Or is Charles Wang the worst owner in NHL history ? This computer geek has no business being involved with anything to do with hockey or any sport at that . Why is Wang driving the islanders directly into the basement of the NHL ? I'm really starting to feel bad for them and I'm a Die Hard Rangers fan . Is he planning on writing the N.Y. Islanders off on his taxes as a loss ? I hate the islanders just as much as the next Rangers fan , But I would at least like to see them be somewhat competitive and I'm not just talking about with the Rangers I'm talking competitive within the League . Did he purchase this team to turn the Coliseum into a big computer warehouse ? Seems like there are some ulterior motives on Wangs part considering there is nothing in his resume about Hockey . I'm pretty sure Wang's purchase was more to do with real estate development than Hockey .

The NHL should investigate this issue instead of letting this guy get away with getting rich off the destruction of one of their teams in order to boost one's Financial Portfolio , Even if it is the Islanders ! Something is really FISHY !

O.K. Boys this is what New York Baseball is supposed to be like . Both N.Y. teams are on a serious roll . This post-season is gonna be exciting . The emergence of the NEW ! Mets team has been a great surprise , But how come ? I cant understand why this team didn't mesh under Willie . I really liked him and felt he did a fine job . The cross town manager (Joe Girardi) happens to be one of m favorite managers in baseball he is the ideal man when you need a guy to help your team rebuild Joe is a true professional . Personally I'm a Mets fan but I'm enjoying the play of both New York teams . I love the job that Jerry is doing getting this team to rediscover the meaning of TEAM WORK ! Hopefully both teams can sustain their success through the rest of the season and Play some October Baseball ! WOW , Delgado is SIZZLING HOT ! Remember both these managers have won manager of the year AWARDS !

The news of Sergei Brylin heading to the new Russian League is just another example of the KHL trying to lure away our beloved NHL players to build their league & DESTROY the NHL or at the very least be as competitive as the NHL . As more and more players leave for the new Russian league , The NHL becomes weaker as a whole . This could become a serious issue as I've mentioned in many of my other articles . The 13 year N.J. devil veteran has decided to become part of St. Petersberg team of the KHL , Signing a 3 year deal . My personal feelings are , Once we lose a player to the KHL we lost that player forever and , With each player lost our BELOVED league becomes weaker . This mater concerns me very much this is the " COLD WAR " of HOCKEY. This new league is throwing a lot of money at these players for a reason ! BEWARE - THE WAR HAS BEEN DECLARED !
