I Think I Found Michael Phelps' Dad

It seemed like nearly everytime you turned on the Olympics to watch Michael Phelps break world records and win gold medals, the NBC cameras would somehow find his Mom nervously sitting in the stands. Much was made about his Mom having to raise Phelps on her own after her husband ditched the marriage while Michael was still fairly young and before he turned intoa€¦oh i dont knowa€¦the most popular athlete in the world. Well, after years of mystery, I think I found him. None other than the lead singer from Twisted Sister, Dee Snider.

Five Reasons the Patriots Will Not Have the AFC's Best Record in 2008

The 2007 New England Patriots were arguably one of the best teams the NFL has ever seen, going undefeated in the regular season and running an amazing 18 game winning streak before losing in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants. They torched numerous records on their way to the Super Bowl including a record 50 touchdown passes from Touchdown Tom Brady. Many people are anxious to put the Pats right back in the Super Bowl this year after falling one game short, but I'm hesitant. In fact, I have five good reasons why the Patriots won't even be the best team in the AFC this season.

Wal-Mart Got Something Right

Wal-Mart ran this ad at the Maddenpalooza in anticipation of it's midnight release. I'm sure you've seen the shortened version on TV, but the full length ad is great. Two minutes of smack talk, does it get better?

Mike Vick Is Officially Screwed

Yesterday, Falcons QB Mike Vick was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of running an illegal dog fighting ring. So much for the "experts" saying that there was a very slim chance that the hammer would be brought down on him. Among the other things he's done such as giving herpes out and flipping off fans, this by far will be the most damaging to the once-dubbed prodigal son of quarterbacking. These aren't simple dog fighting charges that Vick has been hit with. No, these include execution of dogs who wouldn't fight via electrocution, hanging, and even throwing one to the ground until it was dead. Vick has some issues to sort out here, and they aren't just legal. He's sick, and that's something that in the eyes of the public will not be reparable.

Top 10 Best Sports Interviews

There's nothing better than watching an athlete lose their cool on camera in front of a microphone. Here at Sportable, we love athlete antics almost as much as we love the games themselves. Here's a list of the top 10 sports interviews.

Stylewatch: Jerseys Not to Buy 11-23-06

This week's jerseys Tiki Barber, Tom Nalen, and Julius Jones.

Kevin's Jersey not to Buy: Tiki Barber. Yes, he may be second in the NFC in rushing, but that is no reason to get this jersey. Tiki has one touchdown on the year (thanks to bad coaching) and has voiced his opinion about this. He's going to be retiring at the end of the year, but appears to be more than willing to burn bridges as he retires.

Who else do you think should be on this list?

Sonny's Stylewatch: College Basketball Uniforms

As the joy over college hoops rise, I decided to take a look at what teams will be sporting some new jerseys this year. Sometimes its a good thing when teams go ahead and switch up their look, but sometimes it's just down right bad. Most schools have kept their same outfit so I'll take a look at the ones that look new conference by conference.

The World of Soccer: UEFA Champions League 11-22

After an exciting first round of Matchday 5 from the UEFA Champions League, Day 2 had no slow down in the action. The games played today around Europe gave certain teams a chance to clinch a spot in the knockout stage and gave others reason to shake their heads in disgust.

Sonny's StyleWatch: NFL Alternates

I think it's pretty cool when teams switch up their color schemes and come out with an alternate jersey. Sometimes, they're good choices and sometimes, they're down right horrible. The alternate jersey creates a new vibe once or twice a year; I must say it's nice to see something different on NFL players. Last week, I gave grades to the NFL's retro jerseys this week it's time to see how the alternates do.

Stylewatch: Jerseys to Buy 11-16-06

This week's jerseys to buy are Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Devin Hester. What do you guys think?

"Kevin's Jersey to Buy: LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson is simply the best player in the game today. There is no reason to not buy this jersey, 15 touchdowns in his last five games is just an utterly ridiculous statistic. With all of those touchdowns you can rest assured you will be seeing his "layup" celebration more often, and with jersey, you too can join him."

Stylewatch: Jerseys Not to Buy 11-16-06

This weeks jerseys not to buy are Damon Huard, Clinton Portis, and Byron Leftwich, what do you think?

"Sonny's Jersey Not to Buy: Clinton Portis. I don't want to sound like a prick, but maybe it's a good thing Clinton Portis got hurt. The Redskins can pretty much fold in their season as they start sophomore quarterback Jason Campbell this week against Tampa Bay. Just don't be seen with this jersey in the next few months as you will get laughed at."

The Scarlet Who?

"That's right, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are 9-0 and in the hunt for a national championship. Ignoring all the BCS controversy that is sure to take place, congratulations to Rutgers. It wasn't more than a few years ago that this team was one of the laughing stocks of college football. Now they've turned it around, and last night managed a 28-25 victory over Louisville, the #3 ranked team in the nation. This puts Rutgers atop the Big East, and one of four undefeated teams left in college football."

Sonny's Stylewatch: NFL Retros

For Sportable's style columnist, retro jerseys bring back memories and colors that teams once wore to represent their franchises. In this week's edition of StyleWatch, Sonny rates all of the NFL's retro jerseys.
