Phinally!!!

Who would have thought that Philly would have a championship of any kind any time soon? Yes, we have had great teams in the last 25 years since the Sixers in 1983. The Eagles of the late 80's to early and mid 90's and the 2000's. The Flyers (who I think have been for the most part) the most consistent winning team in Philadelphia over the last 25 years. The Sixers who have had a few good teams and an NBA Finals appearance. And the Phillies, making it to the World Series in 1983 and 1993 only to lose in both appearances.

You see, we might not be like the Cubs who have suffered for 100 years and counting. We might not be the Detroit Lions, who have never come close to a Super Bowl title. We might not be the L.A. Clippers, who might as well throw a parade for just making an 8th seed playoff appearance. We might not be the St. Louis Blues, who have had good teams but accomplished squat in their existence.

But what's different about those teams and us? They have all celebrated championships in other sports. So how championship hungry city's can compare? None. Why? We expect a winner. A championship winner. Something our teams have not been in the last 25 years. Untill now that is.

What a feeling. The Phillies win the World Series. Philadelphia is on top of the world right now. In my 27 years on Earth I never knew the feeling of my team being the champs. I never knew the feeling and excitement of a championship parade. It's almost unreal. Even 4 days after that final Brad Lidge strikeout. Even 2 days after that unbelievable parade. We as Philly sports fans have grown to become not use to this. But trust me, I can definatly get use to this.

As thrilled, excited, happy, relieved as I am now, I'm ready for more parades. I hope this will motivate the Eagles to push even harder for our first Super Bowl victory. The Eagles are the dominant team in the area. But for now, it's a baseball city. A happy baseball city. Yep, it's going to be a lot easier to get up and go to work knowing we have a world championship in our back pocket. And in the words of Chase Utley, "World Champions...... WORLD PHUCKIN CHAMPIONS!!!!" Oh how sweet it is..... PHINALLY!!!!

Through A Phillies Fans Eyes

It's that time of year again. The fall classic. The World Series. It's time to crown the world champions of the baseball world in the last and final series of the season. Not to mention that it's obviously the most important. But this year something is different. No, I'm not talking about the Tampa Bay Rays making their remarkable run for their first ever title. No, it's not Red Sox forcing a game 7 tonight with those same remarkable Rays without an all-time great in Manny Ramirez. Nope, What's different is my Philadelphia Phillies are in the World Series for the first time since 1993.

As a Phillies fan this in almost like new territory in a way. Were back-to-back National League East champions. This year, so far, were NL East Champions and winners of the NL Pennant. Those are great accomplishments. Through the first two rounds of the playoffs the Phillies are a combined 7-2 with Cole Hamels and Shane Victorino leading the way. It's been a great run thus far for the Phightin Phills. I'm not ready for it to end here though.

The city is behind this team. Buildings in Center City are turning red. People are wearing their Phillies gear. Flags and signs are all on display. What a great time for us Phillies fans. But let's not stop here. Remember Joe Carter? Remember the Colorado Rockies last season? Let's not forget those painful memories because when we do win the World Series, this year, boy oh boy will it be sweet. We havent had a championship since 1983 with the Sixers. I'm ready for something huge. A world championship. And just imagine how fun it will be to rub it in some Mets fans face.

So in closing I want to say to Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Pedro Feliz, Pat Burrell, Jayson Werth, Cole Hamels and the entire Phillies roster and to the rest of the Phillies organization. Do the city and fans justice by ending our 25 years of championship absence. LET'S GO PHILLIES!!! I am ready for a parade down Broad St. I hope you are too.

Brett Favre Please Stay Gone

Every year for the past, oh I don't know, 3 or 4 years we have all had to endure the same question. That question is will Brett Favre finally hang his cleats up for good? All off season it would be one the biggest, if not the biggest, headline in the NFL world. Everyone on edge waiting to find out the answer. Not to mention the games leading up to the end of the season. How many "farewell tours" has Brett Favre had? A few.

Now this year we went through the same thing but a bit of a change came. We didn't have to wait until training camp to get the inevitable answer that he would return for, yet again, another season. Nope, not this year though. Brett Favre would make the big announcement that he would retire. Packers fans mourned as if it were a death. I guess rightfully so. Brett Favre was a great QB. A Hall Of Fame QB. But all good things must come to an end. And this seemed to be the end of Favre's great career.

Now Favre is retired and the Green Bay Packers are moving on without him. They drafted Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn. Aaron Rodgers will finally get his shot to prove he can be a starting QB in the NFL. The Packers are working with a group of good, young quarterbacks.

So it would seem that things would be moving into the Rodgers era and out of the Favre era right? Wrong. Now their have been rumors that Brett Favre wants to come out of retirement and make a comeback. Now, once again, he's putting the Packers in a crunch. If the rumors are true the Packers have to decide on taking him back and shelving Rodgers for another season or letting him go elsewhere. Which I'm sure will not go well with the Packers faithful.

Here is my personal message to Brett Favre. You have had a great career. You have done it all. Won a Super Bowl, won 3 MVP's. We all know you have a great passion for the game. You have nothing left to prove to anyone. Take a break for the next 4 years and enjoy the ride to the Hall Of Fame. Let the Green Bay Packers move into the new era.
