Every year for the past, oh I don't know, 3 or 4 years we have all had to endure the same question. That question is will
Brett Favre finally hang his cleats up for good? All off season it would be one the biggest, if not the biggest, headline in the NFL world. Everyone on edge waiting to find out the answer. Not to mention the games leading up to the end of the season. How many "farewell tours" has
Brett Favre had? A few.
Now this year we went through the same thing but a bit of a change came. We didn't have to wait until training camp to get the inevitable answer that he would return for, yet again, another season. Nope, not this year though.
Brett Favre would make the big announcement that he would retire. Packers fans mourned as if it were a death. I guess rightfully so.
Brett Favre was a great QB. A Hall Of Fame QB. But all good things must come to an end. And this seemed to be the end of Favre's great career.
Now Favre is retired and the
Green Bay Packers are moving on without him. They drafted
Brian Brohm and
Matt Flynn.
Aaron Rodgers will finally get his shot to prove he can be a starting QB in the NFL. The Packers are working with a group of good, young quarterbacks.
So it would seem that things would be moving into the Rodgers era and out of the Favre era right? Wrong. Now their have been rumors that
Brett Favre wants to come out of retirement and make a comeback. Now, once again, he's putting the Packers in a crunch. If the rumors are true the Packers have to decide on taking him back and shelving Rodgers for another season or letting him go elsewhere. Which I'm sure will not go well with the Packers faithful.
Here is my personal message to
Brett Favre. You have had a great career. You have done it all. Won a Super Bowl, won 3 MVP's. We all know you have a great passion for the game. You have nothing left to prove to anyone. Take a break for the next 4 years and enjoy the ride to the Hall Of Fame. Let the
Green Bay Packers move into the new era.
