With all of the fanfare given to the Santana sweepstakes and the
Miguel Cabrera trade, some of the best moves of the off season were made totally under the radar. The best for both sides and overall were completed by the
Cincinnati Reds and the
Texas Rangers. This was a trade that nationally got only a small bit of coverage and only because
Josh Hamilton was a recovering drug addict. However this was a trade that had both fan bases screaming, "How could you trade that guy?!!!!" and "This is all we got?" Both general managers had gained the ire of the fan base because the GM's traded their clubs can't miss stud. However both men came with red flags and both filled a need for the other team. The Reds GM, Wayne Krivsky, has already been fired because of a poor start to the season and Jon Daniels was rumored to be on the hot seat along with the manager of the Ranger,
Ron Washington. However the move itself has paid off immensely for both sides with both players at the top of each league's triple crown categories.
