I have always prided myself on holding true to my beliefs. And I'm not talking about religion. I am in fact talking about my faith towards the
Philadelphia Eagles. I know I am a younger member of the fan base, but I have held true to sticking with the Eagles from the Ray Rhodes years to their Super Bowl run a few years ago. I never thought I would be questioning the faith of other true Eagles fan, but tonight while watching the Super Bowl, I witnessed something that called my beliefs into question. I witnessed self-proclaimed Eagles fans rooting for the Giants in Super Bowl 42. This goes against everything I think of when I think of a Philadelphia sports fan. There are a few teams that every Eagles fan knows not to root for. 1.)
Dallas Cowboys, 2.)
New York Mets, 3.)
New Jersey Devils and, 4.)
New York Giants. This post is obviously about the last in this list. It is inconceivable to me that any
Philadelphia Eagles fan can root for the Giants. Sure, I can understand your want for the Patriots to lose and not attain the perfect season, but this should not cloud your eyes. Rooting for the Giants is sacrilegious. Rooting for any other member of the NFC East is down right stupid. Yes, I called some of you stupid, because if I could throw batteries at you, I would. The only way I could ever root for another NFC East team, is if their win benefits the Eagles in some way. And this was most certain not one of those situations. Never call yourself an Eagles fan again. Do not jump back on the bandwagon and try to join myself along with the other true fans who were against the Giants even making the playoffs. I am disgusted at these people who call themselves Eagles fans, because my devotion to this team goes beyond just rooting for them. It goes towards rooting against all enemies of the Eagles. And as far as true Eagles fans are concerned, the Giants are public enemy #2 (behind the Cowboys) in an Eagle-anity (Christianity... get it?) world.
