I am sick of all of these people trying to compare Greg Oden to Sam Bowie. First off, Sam Bowie was never once compared to Bill Russell as everyone proclaimed Oden before this happened. Sam Bowie also had a history of leg problems dating back to college. Greg Oden's only injury was to his wrists (an tonsils). The fact that everyone is instantly jumping off of the Greg Oden bandwagon is sad but also a good thing. Blazer nation does not need any fair-weather-fans. We have plenty of fans who love the Blazers because they are the Blazers. Not because they're going to the Western Conference Championship back-to-back years. Not because they got the #1 pick in the 2007 draft. NO! We love the Blazers because they're all we have here, and we will never take them for granted. As for Oden, everyone just needs to back off of him. The kid is 19 years old, has yet to play a second in the NBA, and everyone already has him written off as an injury case. How about we see how he recovers from his surgery. If his recovery goes nearly as well as Amare Stoudamire's, you can be sure that he will be tearing backboards down in the NBA in no time.
