The Celtic's preseason has gone as Doc predicted before games begin. The Celtic's camp is highlighted by the play of newcomers to the mix, as well as, the starters demonstrating that they have not lost their flow.
With the emergence of the Kansas State Rockie Bill Walker in the Cleveland game, and the great play from big man Patrick O'Bryant, the Celtics might just fill the void left by Jame Poise. There is one tunangible asset Poise brought to the team that no one can yet predict if anyone can replace, Spiritual Motivation and Team Unity. Although I believe KG will and did have this role nailed. Poise, you will be missed by this Celtics Fan!
The one player who has yet to return to form has been Glen "Big Baby" Davis. Baby has played sub par, self promoting style of offense that denegrates his impact on the team. Although he did show some signs of playing his team ball once again against the Rockets. As always, Leon has brought great defense and offensive thoughness to the Celtics, which they will need to battle in the east. A Pleasant relief for me has been the play from Tony Allen. He is a needed asset, and I have loved his consistent play at both ends.
As we approach the middle of the preseason, many are asking: "Who will make the Celtic Roster?" I personally think you cannot leave Gabe of the roster this year. He is playing a similar game to Rondo, uptempo style with good passing and an improved defensive presense. Maybe, you let JR Giddens get some needed NBA experience in the "D", and although we may rethink this come playoff time, let Sam rest a least half the season. This would allow
Darius Miles to get a longer look a real action come the regular season.
As we move through the rest of the preseason, I would like to see the Big Three get their rest until the last two games, and get a better look at the rockies, and give Gabe some more minute. I also want to continue to see the great play of Tony continue and get him in a flow, as his offense and defense will be much needed on the second team.
This is a great start to the defense of the championship. Go CELTS!
