The issue here is professionalism - the only way that Ireland can really start to compete on the world stage. How about making Ireland a genuine "English" county so they play professionally in all county competitions and don't lose their best players to English counties? Come on ECB, show some solidarity for the game's sake.

Can't see this myself. Fresh from their humiliating mismanagement of the World Cup, the ICC aren't likely to let Australia off going to Zimbabwe. The Bob Woolmer inquest has been postponed due to significant developments in the inquiry. The statement from the Jamaican justice ministry says "The coroner wishes that these new and significant developments be pursued with the utmost urgency, taking into account that the officer in charge has advised that these new developments are critical to the progress and the eventual results of the investigations themselves."

England coach Duncan Fletcher is to step down after England's World Cup match against the West Indies on Saturday. The BBC understands from "high level sources" within the ECB. This comes after a succession of humiliating results this winter - a 5-0 defeat in the Ashes, and then failing to beat a major nation in the World Cup. My view - about time. We need a new coach who is more flexible and gives a toss about one-day cricket.
