Favre and Sundin have a lot in common: both are legends in their cities, both were universally respected, and both have been playing a controversial game of "will-he-or-won't-he" for months that may see them jump to a rival team. But the two cases aren't the same -- one is far worse.

The Love Guru opens today. As a big budget Hollywood blockbuster, the film will no doubt be seen by a lot of non-hockey fans. This is great news for the NHL, which needs all the publicity it can get. However, as with any movie the Hollywood version has taken some liberties with reality. Movie goers may be left with some false impressions about the NHL in general and the Toronto Maple Leafs in specific. To avoid confusion, Down Goes Brown attempts to sort out fact and fiction.

The NHL recently held its General Managers meeting. This article imagines a fictional(?) conversation between Leafs interim GM and Anaheim GM Brian Burke, who as well know the Leafs are absolutely not tampering with.

A Leaf fan spends a little too much time breaking down the immediate aftermath of the infamous Wendel Clark - Marty McSorley fight from the 1993 playoffs. Everything is covered, from McSorley assaulting a cameraman, to a fan throwing a crutch on the ice, to the guy in the pink shirt and acid wash jeans giving the Kings bench the finger.

The Memorial Cup trophy has been handed to the winner of the junior hockey championship since 1919 in honour of those who died in the First World War. As the video clip on this blog demonstrates, Spokane captain Chris Bruton has apparently decided to put a stop to all that.

Now that hockey-reference.com is accepting sponsorships on player and team pages, most of the response has been predictable. But not all of it -- some fans have slapped down a few bucks to have some fun with certain players. Find out what's been done to Jaromir Jagr, Wayne Gretzky, Carey Price and others. And us know if you've seen any we missed.

Richard Peddie and the rest of the clowns at MLSE haven't had much luck building a successful hockey team. Would they do any better if they were in the beer business?

It's hard to choose the best part. His helmet almost falling off? His mic cutting out? The speech taped to the inside of his shield? Truly has to be seen to be believed.

Fresh off his suggestion that Senators two-hand Sidney Crosby's ankle and subsequent attempt to pick a fight with Georges Laraque, the Ottawa Sun's Don Brennan is back with more quality journalism. This time, he explains why a high-stick to the head shouldn't be a penalty.

In the sidebar to their "Leafs Stink" hatchet job, Macleans lists the what they say are the seven worst trades in club history. But some of the trades they list weren't trades at all, and some of the rest have the details wrong. Who does the fact-checking at Macleans, Richard Peddie?

If you have been to the bathroom at your grandparents house in the last few days, you've probably seen something called a Maclean's Magazine sitting in a basket beside the toilet. This week, in a transparent attempt to seem relevant, they've taken aim at the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, they have nothing to say that we haven't heard a hundred times before.
