The Eagles were a mediocre 8-8 in '07 for one reason: they didn't have a tall reciever in the red zone to cap off drives with touchdowns rather than field goals. Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown are fine recievers when they are not expected to do too much. If the Eagles can add a big, fast, physical reciever, they could become a Super Bowl contender as soon as next year.
Some possibilities at WR are Cahd Johnson,
Larry Fitzgerald, and Javon Walker. They are all unhappy with their respective situations, so the time is NOW for the Eagles to make a play for one of them. Another possibility is
Bernard Berrian from Chicago. His name is not as big as the others, but Berrian certinly has big-play capability.
The bottom line is, Donovan deserves better than he's been given. One season with you-know-who, and look ehat happened. He's been surrounded by
James Thrash's,
Todd Pinkston's,
Greg Lewis's and Freddie Mitchell's in th past. And he still got the Birds to 4 straight NFC 'ships. Mark my words: if the Eagles get one of those four recievers or someone like them, they will at least get to the NFC chapionship.
