Yanks Decide To Give Up On Season, Set To Start Pavano

As the Yankees' post season hopes continue to dwindle it seems as the team has thrown in the towel as they announced Carl Pavano will be Saturday's starting pitcher against the Orioles. Have things really gotten this bad for the Bronx Bombers? Pavano? Really? His stats for the Yankees since 2005 are:

19 Games, 5-6 W/L, 4.77 ERA, and about $40 million over 4 years.

Why even bother giving him another shot. He wasted 4 years on the DL and he's actually not even that good when he was healthy. I'd rather pay off the contract without seeing him on the mound and keeping the very slight miracle of a hope that they can grab the WC. Doubtful, yes.

Who's Worse: Wilpons or Dolans?

Hey Yard,

With the recent firing of Willie Randolph, the Mets' abysmal play, and the dreadful Knickerbockers, a friend of mine posed a good question: Who is the worse owner: The Wilpons or the Dolans?

My vote goes to the Dolans. Those idiots single-handedly destroyed and damaged a great NBA franchise, and they killed support from one of the best fan-bases in the country.

Thoughts?

Yankees Win World Series! Correction: Beat Blue Jays And Act Like It Was The World Series

Yesterday, the Giambino blasted a 2 run shot into the right field upper deck in the bottom of the 9th for a 9-8 comeback win at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees and their fans reacted as if they had just won the World Series. They look pathetic. Beating the Blue Jays is no strong feat and to be this excited by defeating the one team that is below you in the East is pretty lame. What happened to this team?

Why I Want To See The Celtics Lose

I want the Hawks to win. Badly. Very badly. But why? I can't really narrow it down to the exact reason, but here's a few reasons in no particular order:

1. Bill Simmons - look, I read his column once a week but his homerism towards Boston and the Celtics is terribly annoying. And his recent boring articles about everything Celtics is just...boring and I'm sick of it. I want to see him cry or at least write the inevitable article about firing Doc Rivers, how the Celts got hosed, or how his pending doom as a fan from Boston stepped in. Or any other excuse that will come out of it aside form acceptance of a loss. What a jerkstore that dude can be.

2. I'm still angry with the city of Boston for allowing the mass production of pink "B" hats and drunken frat boys to be deployed on every village, town, and city in the United States after the 2004 ALCS.

3. This would rank up there as arguably the biggest upset in NBA Playoff history - and to have a team from Boston at the short end of it would be satisfying.

4. Other - I'm sure there are other reasons, help me out with why you want to see the Hawks take the series...

Tom Coughlin should mail Tiki Barber $1 million and a piece of poop

As most of you know, Tom Coughlin and the New York Football Giants are on the verge of closing a deal worth $21 million over 4 years. That's a lot of money for a guy who was an inch away from being tossed onto the Jersey Turnpike ass-first last season.

Coughlin should mail Tiki Barber a check for $1 million and a piece of his own feces for all the smack, accusations, and all around mudslinging Tiki pulled on Coughlin and his teammates. It could even be viewed as a "Thank you, Tiki, for not being part of this championship team. You weren't missed. Enjoy my poop."

Can we start a petition so this happens?

Baseball 2008: Things To Hate This Season

As Spring Training kicks into gear, the anticipation of the season is growing. Pretty excited about this year for a number of reasons.. But let's start with the things that will get baseball fans alike (of maybe just me) annoyed this season.

Top 10 Things I'm Not Looking Forward To This Year in Baseball

1. "Manny Being Manny": I can really do without this phrase

2. Joe Buck: He stinks

3. Tim McCarver: He's worse

4. The inevitable Roger Clemens "comeback" in July: No thanks

5. Living in the Bay Area with two awful teams playing daily: Not a promising time for baseball in the Bay Area when the marquee players are Aaron Rowand and a washed up/overpaid Barry Zito

6. Curt Schilling's blog: No thanks

7. Buying the baseball package in HD and not being able to watch Saturday afternoon Yankee games

8. Arod blowing it (again) in October. I can't take this trend much longer

9. "One Nut" Kruk offering stupid analysis on Baseball Tonight: Harold Reynolds is sorely missed on this program

10. Anything involving Scott Boras

Brady and Gisele Break-Up Odds: 3:1 Before Valentine's Day

With Tom Brady losing to Eli Manning in Super Bowl XXLII, all dreams of a perfect season long gone, all the record breaking stats forgotten, how will this fair for Tom's budding relationship with super model Gisele Bündchen? My guess is she'll show support and comfort this week - it's a trying week for poor Tom - but I won't be surprised to read Page 6 next week to learn they split. He's toast sooner or later. Does Vegas have a line for this?

Dear Tiki Barber: Go To Hell

I think all Giants fans will agree that the Super Bowl victory tonight was that much better without Tiki on the team. Awesome.

Go To The Super Bowl With A Silver Bullet

Coors Light is inviting fans to submit video clips explaining why they deserve to attend this years Super Bowl. Just be careful not to break one of the many rules such as videos with:

"famous people; references to football teams, players, coaches or owners; political themes; depictions of drinking while driving; drinking games; drinking beer "rapidly, excessively, involuntarily"; religious references; gambling; illegal or explicit sexual activity; any form of intoxication; any beer brands that compete with Coors or Coors Light; violence; and dangerous situations."

Seems they forbid the best ideas.

Those Poor Muts...I mean Mets

My brother is a huge Mets fan and we've been in recent talks about his beloved Metropolitans on the verge of an epic collapse. He pointed out that The Baseball Prospectus ranks the possible Mets collapse as #2 on the all time list, but I'd have to say it would rank #1 given the Mets had a 7.5 game lead as recently as September 12.
