Today the
Seattle Seahawks cut ties with
Shaun Alexander only 26 months after giving him an 8-year, $62 Million contract. Over the last two years, Alexander has been pretty much what every real 'Hawks fan knew him to be: a soft, non-explosive, and very un-tough running back.
As much as I loved Alexander, especially for his impressive "Monday Night Football" performances, nose for the endzone, his trademark cut-back runs, and carrying the Seahawks to Super Bowl 40, his time has come. In fact, it came at the end of that Super Bowl. Giving a 28 year-old running back a contract of that length and size might as well be a death warrant in the NFL. He also caught the infamous "Madden Curse" in 2006, getting injured for the first time. He showed zero toughness after he came back and, frankly, I was not surprised. He would always roll over in a pile of defenders rather than push someone over for the extra yards.
My question to all of you is, can Alexander really play again in the NFL, or should he be getting ready to be Rev.
Shaun Alexander, and retire?
I am not to worried about
Julius Jones, or T.J. Duckett. They will do fine, and Seattle is working on bettering their offensive line. Look for the 'Hawks to make some moves to help the line on BOTH sides of the ball during the draft.
