Hey! My name's Jon. I've been going to Chiefs games since I was 4. My father was always a die-hard fan and, since he was my father, so was I. I'm now 23 and still a die-hard fan. This passion now feels more like an addiction headed down a dark path. In recent years, the Chiefs have had many promising moments shortly followed by many disasterous ones. I use the word 'promising' because I don't believe the Chiefs have ever finished the season giving the fans much to look forward to. Since I can remember, there has always been at least one glaring hole in their roster that the organization shows no interest in fixing. All the fans drinking the Herm-Aid this year are fired up. I admit... I like some Herm-Aid every once in a while... and I'm pretty fired up about this season too but unless you have a very selective memory, It's hard to stray too far from reality. If a meteorologist were to predict the outcome of this upcoming season, he'd probably advise everyone to take shelter, however, a lot of people don't listen to the weatherman because they know that he's not always right.
I can't really predict what's going to happen this year. A lot has changed. Literally HALF the roster will be new faces. I will just be excited to see the team headed in a new direction. Even if the 2008/2009 season turns out to be nothing but a 5 month preview of things to come, I hope to see a more rejuvenized team and fan base. The atmosphere at Arrowhead died last year. I hope that the 2006 Thanksgiving game wasn't it's last hurrah. I remember the 90's and how crazy that place got. I know there are a lot of passionate fans out there. With an exciting draft this year, it shouldn't be too hard to bring that insanity back to Arrowhead...
... of course, the organization could make it more affordable for the true fans to attend home games... or afford to even park their freakin' car! I'll save that thought for another time. Lata
