The Southeast Division makes me sick. It's a group of mundane teams trying not to get slaughtered. It's like the 16th seed playing the 1 seeds. It just isn't fair. The
Washington Wizards can certainly compete. They got 3 solid players.
Gilbert Arenas,
Caron Butler, and Antwan Jamison. However, Arenas is coming off a left knee surgery and Antwan Jamison is now in his 10th season. That's alot to handle as a big man. Playoff's are possible, but not a guarantee. The
Miami Heat won a championship. Congratulations but they have a nebulous future. Obviously Dwayne Wade will carry the load, but who is going to help him? I was never a fan of Shaq daddy and I do not believe he can produce much more. The Diesel doesn't have to many miles left to go. I am not even going to cover the Bobcats and Hawks. Two failing teams that are trying to find their identity.
Only one team left in the Southeast. Let's talk about why the
Orlando Magic are on their way to victory. Is is because J.J. Redick is going to finally prove what he can do? Eh, probably not. So lets take a look at who else they got.
Dwight Howard is the dominant power forward in the Eastern Conference. Yes,
Kevin Garnett is good to but have you see the muscle on Dwight? He had more than 1000 rebounds last season and I look for him to do the same this season. KG only had 975. Scoring isn't a problem for Dwight. 17 points last season and my guess is he will be putting up 20 or more this season. Newly acquired
Rashard Lewis is a dangerous threat. He basically can score at will. It all comes down to
Jameer Nelson. If he can produce the assist that I think he can, the
Orlando Magic should be competing for no less than the 5th seed in the playoffs. Long ways away, but we'll see.
