As one might have suspected, James' match with friend
Mardy Fish was a bit of an awkward affair- for the crowd and the players. But it was clear that Mardy was the better player on this night though, dominating with his serve and doing a good job at attacking James' second serve. The final score was 6-3, 6-3, 7-6(4).
USA network joined the match a game into the proceedings, and James was already down a break. He got it back, but immediately went down another break to lose 6-3.
James got only one break point opportunity in the second, also losing 6-3. James was down another break in the third and Mardy was attempting to serve out the match at 5-4, but nerves got hold of him, and the two battled to a tie-break.
After going up 4-2 in the breaker, Mardy reeled off five points in a row to take the match and move onto the fourth round for the first time ever at the Open. He gets Monfils next.
So a tough Open for James, one in which it never appeared he was totally locked in to his game.
Even though the result of the tournament can not be pleased for himself and his fans. But I think he still did all he can for the match at least. And that is enough. Maybe he needs some time to have rest. After having finished the tournament which represented his country, he had to flighted to the USA to prepare the US Open. I know it is so tired that few person can bear. He needs applause.
I just want to say, keep the confidence and trust tomorrow will be better !
