Despite its most valiant efforts to compete with the big leagues, TNA Wrestling has maintained its decade-long position as a home for respectable indie stars and past-their-prime WWE castoffs. That’s not entirely a bad thing, though. Sometimes a change of promotion is exactly what a former “superstar” needs to reinvent himself and breathe new life into a stagnating career (Scott Steiner and Bully Ray, for instance, have arguably performed better during their TNA tenures than they ever did in WWE). With that in mind, we suggest 10 former WWE champs — holders of either the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship — who could be valuable additions to the TNA roster. 10. Alberto Del Rio The Mexican aristocrat gimmick is a great concept — particularly with the luxury cars and personal ring announcer — but it’s wearing thin in WWE. After a 35-day reign with the WWE Championship he has been treading water and in need of a reboot. A jump to TNA (presumably renamed Albert Dos Silver or something similar) could inject new pizazz into the persona. Better yet, why not revert to his former name, Dos Caras Jr., and play up the lineage to his legendary lucha namesake and his uncle Mil Mascaras? Click here to view the embedded video.
