Early Monday morning, Pope Benedict XVI announced that he was stepping down as the head of the Catholic Church. He will be the first Pope in 600 years to leave the position. While many have reflected on his short tenure as Papal, WWE Superstar CM Punk took a slightly different approach on Twitter when he found out, by referring to the Pope’s Nazi past And when those on Twitter questioned his remarks, he didn’t shy away. Now, this certainly isn’t one of CM Punk’s notorious ‘pipe bombs’, but with RAW scheduled to air later tonight, this certainly won’t be something that Vince McMahon is going to be too upset about. After all, any attention is good attention in the Rasslin industry. If you are wondering why CM Punk called the Pope a Nazi, it is because Pope Benedict was involved in the “Hitler Youth” program in Nazi Germany during the late 1930′s. The Pope does not deny this, but said he had no choice as a young man in Germany during that time, because you were basically forced to swear allegiance to the fascist leader.
