Although he had limited success in the WWE, as Atlas DaBone and Atlas Ortiz in WWE’s developmental territories, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling, before debuting on WWE television as Ricky Ortiz, the former XFL star was said to have great potential, before he was released from his contract with the company on August 8th, 2009.
Despite his release from the company, nearly 2 years ago, Ortiz remained on the independent scene, working with World Wrestling Council, Combat Championship Wrestling, I Believe In Wrestling and other promotions.
After 2 years away from a top-level wrestling promotion, it seems as if Ortiz could possibly be working his way up the ladder in the hopes of a return to top-level competition.
