Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Admits To Massive Error That Ruined Oklahoma City Thunder’s Game 6 Chances
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma City Thunder just fell out of the playoff race when they lost Game 6 to the Dallas Mavericks. After the contest, All-Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came clean and admitted his part in the loss.

In Game 6 between OKC and the Mavs, it was the latter that took home the 117-116 win over the former. All-Star guard Luka Doncic put on a show by dropping 29 points on 60 percent shooting from the field, 10, rebounds, and 10 assists. Kyrie Irving and Derrick Jones Jr. each had 22 points, while Derek Lively II came up big from the bench by adding 12 points and 15 rebounds.

The Thunder, on the other hand, were led by Gilgeous-Alexander’s 36 points, three rebounds, and eight assists. Second-year star Jalen Williams made 22 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, while Chet Holmgren contributed 21 points and three rebounds.

The win helped Doncic and the Mavericks advance to the next round with a few days to spare for rest. They are slated to face either Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, or Anthony Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals. SGA and the Thunder, meanwhile, have ended their surprising run this season with a bright future now ahead of them thanks to their impressive showing all year long.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Comes Clean With Game 6 Error That Destroyed Oklahoma City Thunder’s Playoff Chances

After the game, Gilgeous-Alexander spoke to reporters and shared his thoughts about their recent loss to the Mavericks. In a video posted by NBA TV on X:

During the finals seconds of the game, Washington attempted to make a shot from the three-point line with SGA defending him. In the process, the Thunder star committed a foul on him, resulting in two free throws being made that sealed Dallas’ win in the series.

In the six games SGA played against Dallas, the OKC guard posted 32.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.3 blocks per contest. He also shot 50 percent from the field, 55 percent from deep, and 83 percent from the free throw line.

Even though OKC’s season has now ended, their future remains bright in the years ahead. With SGA at the center, the Thunder will continue contending for a title next season and beyond.
