Ashmita Chaliha is still fighting hard in defence, but a couple of loose lifts have allowed Kjaersfeldt to unleash those steep smashes from mid-court. The eighth seed now leads 20-17 and has three game points to force this quarter-final into a decider.
Game 2 is turning into another tight tactical battle already. After narrowly losing the opener 21-23, Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt has increased the pace in the rallies and is trying to pin Ashmita Chaliha deep into the corners with steep attacking clears.
But Ashmita is matching her shot for shot, staying solid in defence and responding with clever net touches to keep the Dane moving. We are locked at 5-5, and neither player is giving away easy points here.
What a response from Ashmita Chaliha under pressure! Just when Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt looked ready to snatch the opening game, the Indian held her nerve in the flat exchanges and kept finding sharp angles into the backcourt. Ashmita edges a tense first game 23-21 after some brilliant defensive retrievals and patient rally building.
And straight into Game 2 we go, the Dane has come out attacking again, with the score sitting at 4-3 early on.
Oh, this game has completely flipped on its head! Ashmita Chaliha was in control early on, but Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt has clawed her way back into it with deeper clears and far more aggressive pressure on the forehand side.
The Dane is now rushing Ashmita at the net and forcing quicker lifts, and suddenly it is 19-18 in a nervy opening game.
Ashmita Chaliha is looking sharp out there. The Indian shuttler is dictating the tempo beautifully with her placement and controlled rallies, opening up a handy 10-6 lead over eighth seed Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in the opening game. Early pressure firmly on the Dane here.

The pair have met once before, with Kjaersfeldt winning that clash.
